drama queen?

Post by LAnative »

Been called a LOT of things- bastard, longhaired hippy pinko, freak, pothead, speedfreak, acidhead, chardonay drinking, Volvo driving, Starbucks sitting Liberal by politicians, wacko, a..hole, prick, SOB, s... eating worm by drill sargeants amongst other things, loser& health nut just to name a few. But I gotta hand it to ya, this is the FIRST time I've been called Drama Queen. Must be from living so close to Hollywood and near actors.
Thanks, now I can add that to my list and I'll have something to talk about at work! Who says the Brits have a strange sense of humor? (balancing your"golf balls"? Never heard that one either and didn't get it. Why would you want to balance the ones you play with on the green OR in your bed?).
You guys are a lot of fun. Since I discovered this blog I have virtually stopped watching TV in favor of these entries. The arguing back and forth is better than any soap opera or Jerry Springer. This appears to be your version of Live Journal which we have in the US. You use it to vent or say anything you want and not have to worry that anyone will ever see you and know it was you. Isn't the internet great? You never have to get out off your chair or leave the pad to socialize. Someone should write a movie script about how a group of isolated bloggers helps bankrupt a small town by never going out to the local pubs for a pint. When the power company decides to take the town off the grid because it is not profitable enough the entire town commits suicide because they can't blog anymore. Needs a little work but a possible B movie. It can even say based on true events. Or it could be a cable TV movie. You have given me a good idea! Worthy of a Drama Queen. By the way I am a straight male, 6'4, 240 lbs with 18 percent body fat & quite muscular from 10 years of gym workouts. Some athletes may have been Queens but not I.
I still plan to visit HH this Oct. even tho' I will not move there. Maybe we can toss back a few.
Cheers :guns:

Thanks for the description... now you should be easy to avoid. I don't think many of us here are in that great shape! :D

By the way, you keep calling this a blog. It's a "forum". There are subtle distinctions...

I really don't care to add much to this ongoing "drama" but clarification is called for.

1) I'm American, not a Brit. In fact, LA, I believe most of the gang trying to help you out are Americans.

2) Some golf balls have a "heavy" side due to manufacturing inconsistencies and the business of floating them in Epson Salts/Sea Salts was to identify the heavy side so when you putted with them you could align the ball so it didn't slide left or right because it was "out of balance".

3) I think it's time for us all to move on to a new topic....Trolling is probably an apt description for what our friend from Los Angeles has been doing. Besides, we all have to get busy mourning MJ don't we?

Me too, people can be cruel can't they. Must say I'm quite surprised not to see 'big girls blouse' on your list though.

Good luck with wherever you finally choose to relocate to.

big girl blouse?

Post by LAnative »

What is a "big girl blouse"? Never heard of it. Must be a Thai-ism.
I have been REPEATEDLY told to live there one must a sense of humor, but I don't see much evidence of same on the FORUM. I wasn't referring to anyone specific when I used an Americanism describing those who wander off topic onto unrelated tangents unkindly. Does anyone even know what the word jerkwad means? I wouldn't think Brits would. I certainly wasn't referring to TIGR as he was the first to give me direct answers and I THANKED him for it specifically. But no one has enough self esteem to be able to laugh at themselves? Really? Besides all the other names I have been called I'll add Motherf...er, redneck, peckerwood, honky, white boy, cabrone, gringo and now Big Girl Blouse (?). I'm still alive, I didn't die because of a word.
My specific apologies to TIGR if he thought that out of ALL the forum writers I was referring to him. Each of us often thinks of ourselves as the center of the universe and take some things personally that weren't meant that way. I do it myself, but I am unharmed by words.

balancing balls

Post by LAnative »

To TIGR Thanks for the clarification. I hope you weren't insulted about where you play with your balls. After reading the entries where everyone was laughing so hard I took ball balancing to be a euphemism, an inside joke. I don't play golf so didn't know that balls needed balancing. I wouldn't buy new balls that were defective. I know there aren't cheap. But that is why it seemed funny to me that those "other" balls were being balanced. I thought it was a quirk of Brit humor I didn't get. My Bad. But that in itself is funny when you think about it, A total comedy of errors. Just a taste of what it might be like trying to talk to locals.
Apologies for anything that may have offended you. I was attempting a little verbal sparring. It is common here amongst peers. But sense of humor differs among people especially by age bracket.

Cheers

Big Drama Girl -

No problems.....you sound a little more normal now that you've got your feet wet, so to speak.

I don't think anyone but a golfer would have understood the golf ball thing but I'm happy to entertain in any way I can.

As we've all said before, we wish you luck wherever you end up.....once you've gone through it you'll have a better idea of what everyone was talking about.

Cheers -

I've been playing golf off and on for 48 years and I didn't get the ball balancing thing either. I guess you have to be good at the game to be concerned about such things. Maybe an unbalanced ball is the reason I sometimes make those long putts instead of the usual ten foot miss...

Big Girl's Blouse" as defined in the Urban Dictionary. Google to find
big girl's blouse
British slang term for a wimpy, emasculated and weak man. In particular, one who complains immoderately.

Ya big girl's blouse! Grow a pair why don't ya
There are also various definitions of "drama queen" there

 Not a Thai-ism

big girls blouse

Post by LAnative »

Big girl's blouse is a BRITISH term? Thought it a Thai-ism. Thanks for the clarification. I love this Forum, I learn so much! I also like that people who disrespect others from the safety of their computers tell others to grow some cajones. Terribly amusing! I will be in HH the 2nd week of Oct. doing research. I would love to meet some of you and take you out for drinks. I will pay for all you can drink but all I ask is that you leave your cellphone behind and drive to our meeting place yourself alone.

thanks to all

Specific thanx to all who who have given detailed and specific info. It is much appreciated.
Thanks to Farang, JW, Crazy88, Wanderlust, HHFarang, Sargeant, Mr Plum, MargaretCarnes, Chas, HHADFan, TIGR, SuperJoe, and Norm for your informative input. I have compiled the data into a pro/con list and used the info from this forum to make my final decision. Thanks for your help. If I could just overcome the indignity of begging Thai immigration to allow me to spend my money there and allow me to live unmolested, I would move there soon. I just don't like the idea of subjugating my dignity (what is left of it) to capricious and corrupt authorities. How do you all deal with it?
I would love to have drinks with HansMartin, Valrhona and JohnnyK, individually of course. Just give me an address and we will make it happen.
Hans- the Bay area is a short plane hop from here. If you give me a place to meet and a date we could possibly meet for drinks, on me. My daughter-in-law is from Brentwood and her aunt is Olympic skater Peggy Fleming. I like to meet foreign immigrants. My mother is German. We could compare Huevos.

Cheers and Ta Ta to all
