British businessman falls to death from Bangkok condominium
A British businessman falls to his death from the rooftop of a 16-storey condominium on Soi Sukhumvit 1 Monday morning, police said.
Security guards of the Ruenrudee Condominium found the body of Abu Sada, 47, on the second floor of the car park of the condominium at 7 am.
His girlfriend told police that the Briton was a garment exporter and he had been recently depressed because of the export slowdown.
She said the man made several attempted suicides earlier. She said the man told her that he would have a walk on the rooftop before she was told by security guards that her boyfriend had been killed.

Caught my eye this one, everyday another "suicide". Never have I been to a country where so many "suicides" or "unfortuate accidents" occur. Also somewhere where investigators are so quick to call it such and close the case with little or no investigation. Don't even mention Pattaya. If it was that bad then just go home and get on the dole with everyone else till it picks up.
Seems a strange time of day (7am) to throw yourself off a big condo building and the girl sounds fairly casual about the whole affair.

It's never a good time to jump, if that is what he did.
There are, as you say, a lot of suicides lately in the LOS

I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.
It may seem so and always has. However I think in the West the media has simply stopped reporting most of them, as they would number in the hundreds, maybe thousands, daily throughout the USA and EU.Khundon1975 wrote:.....There are, as you say, a lot of suicides lately in the LOS![]()
I also think the Thai media does not report much of anything concerning Thai suicides. The farang factor always gets the press.
Another hot spot is Hong Kong with people (many distraught teenagers now

I think Pete's right. A friend of my daughters tried to commit suicide when she was 15. The school had a lot of awareness programs to discuss the problem and I was real surprised at the number of suicides, and attempts, each year.
This report seems funny though. The girlfriend says he tried many suicides earlier, but then decided to go for a walk on the roof?? And she didn't blink on that??
" Honey, I know I tried suicide many times before, but I feel better now"
"OK Tilac, whaere are you going?"
"Well I thought I'd take a walk up on the roof"
"OK Tilac"
"Honey, how high do you think the top roof is??"
"Very high I think"
"OK, I'm off"
"Enjoy your walk, glad you feel better"

Forgive me! Assuming you are referring to my post dated 4th July 2009 in the current affairs section, I would have thought discussing a news item taken from the news section of a popular United Kingdom newspaper dated 3rd July 2009 to be current news?spitfire wrote:Hmmm. At least it's current, it's news, it's related to Thailand and in the right section.
