There are other scams with 'freephone' numbers too. For example if you end up with 'options' to select after getting through to the 0800, those options can divert your call to a charged line.
Another to watch out for is the automatic ring back service. Often used by GP surgeries. You phone - lines are engaged but a message gives the option of requesting an automatic call back and connection when there is a line free. Seems like a good idea until you see your BT bill.
