Played Majestic on Saturday, nice course, great settings and frightening 45 degree greens! Met the boss also who commented on the fact that it was so quiet and that he would like to get more people playing there.
Apparently the walk-in green fee for farangs is 2,750 so its not surprising that we only saw Thais playing there this weekend.
How about an expat or low season rate, surely a lower green fee and more 'bums on seats' would be better than an empty course? Evidently not.
Who is the happier man, he who has braved the storm of life and lived or he who has stayed securely on shore and merely existed? - Hunter S Thompson
It is a well laid out course but the greens are VERY slow compared to other courses in the vicinity.
Their high green fees are totally unjustified hence why Black Mountain and Banyan with their deals get the business - their courses are also much superior
I like Majestic and would play there if the green fee was around 1000Baht during the high season. Otherwise, why go twice the distance to play a course that is half as well maintained as Black Mountain for the same price?
I think it's one of the nicest local layout and much better that a place like Palm Hills(one of the most boring courses in the history of golf) but it's in a bit of a pickle since the opening of Black Mountain and Banyan which are closer, newer, nicer and in the same price range.
When I played there I think they had about 10 players that day. It can't be doing well financially...
Great layout but condition is gradually getting worse. Better layout than both BM and Banyan in my opinion but cant compete with the condition and service level.

I can understand expats wanting a better deal for themselves to get in line with what Thais are paying but don't forget "Tourists". The total cost of a game of golf for us doesn't start and finish with green fees. We mostly catch taxis to the course, sometimes rent clubs, buy balls etc yet operators think we should pay top dollar! In some countries like UK and Europe the toursit is offered incentives to pre-purchase train travel and heritage society entrance at lower prices. I know you guys are continually pushing string uphill to get equity, but we all know that when you are on holidays the budget can get tight too! Personally, I like to play golf every day while in LOS. Prices make it so I can't. Golf Asia's recent newsletter spoke about huge discounts in Hua Hin for the low season, about $28 from memory, just for a 2 month period I think. Anyway, I can't see myself paying 3000 baht evry day. May as well keep going to phuket. Anyway, just getting to be a bit of a rant now. It's just that Tourists don't have anyone pushing a barrow for them in Thailand.
Buksida, thanks for the link to the map. Fantastic. It gives me a better idea of which direction I will be heading. I also looked at a MapJack or soemthing the other day and "walked" HH. The Golf shop opposite the Lord Nelson, is that also a booking desk?
1500Baht at Black Mountain isn't a bad deal. Right now, you can also stay at the Imperial Hua Hin for 1799 including golf, caddy and cart.
Hopefully August will bring back the 800 Baht golf promotions... I think these are decent deals. It would be nice to see summer memberships though.
You won't get anything like that in Phuket. You'll be lucky to pay 2500Baht for a green fee. Loch Palm used t have summer deals but they had gotten more and more expensive and this summer I've seen nothing on their website.
