Villagers to pull down their houses

Post by SHADOW »

Officials are preparing to to withdraw charges of beach encroachment against 52 villagers in Hua Hin as the villagers have agreed to demolish their buildings and vacate the area.

Committee Chairman Seri Suwanapanont said his committee would meet with representatives from the office of the Attorney-General and other relevant agencies on Thursday in order to find a way out for the villagers, whose case is being considered in a court in Prachuap Kiri Khan.

Muang Hua Hin municipality mayor Sasiphan Kamolpramote said yesterday that the villagers had agreed to relocate from the beach area along Reit Damri Rd because they did not want to face fines of up to two million baht per person.

The villager's leaders mostly owners of resturants and resorts, told Mr Sasiphan they would immediately dismantletheir buildings if there were an order from the office of the Attorney-General withdrawing the charges.

Shadow,
Where did this news item come from? I think the road name is Naretdamri and it means (possibly) the end of the 'pier' restaurants and guesthouses on the beach side of that street, which will be a great shame.
