Hi

I have Two 6 mth old pups that desperatly need dog training.

Any contacts / Ideas would be greatly appreciated as there OUT of control and need discipline!!!

You could do it yourself but it should have started at about 3 months, and you have two which will make things difficult. A lot of time and patience will be needed, along with a bag of treats in one hand, and a rolled up newspaper in the other hand. The newspaper more for the scare factor of banging your own leg or the ground with it, not them.

If you have no choice than to do it yourself, do a google as much on there concerning dog training. Also be prepared to devote about four hours a day, plus interventions when they act up. Good luck. Pete

Further to above, at their age their puppy teeth are starting to itch to come out so they're probably chewing on everything, including shoes. Get all items out of their reach and get them some good rawhide bones to chew on before they start in on your wood moulding, garden hoses and car tires.

I would also buy two good choke chain collars and leads. You're going to need help as impossible to train them on leads two at a time. Your wife will have to take command of one of them. Once trained on a lead, get rid of the choke chains and get some good woven nylon fabric collars, not leather in this climate.

The rest of it all depends upon what their bad habits are and addressing each, one after the other. Pete

I have a contact, a Thai military man, who won't take dogs before they are 6 months old. So for him it's the right age. I believe he keeps the dog for 3 months and charges 12000 thb. He may do shorter programs. If that doesn't put you off, call Khun Prasert (I think that's how you spell it) 083-242-7224. Have a Thai speaker help you and check if he can teach the dog English commands.

You can also check any of the HH vets. They will know who else trains dogs.

One of our dogs will 'sit' in both English and Thai, but he'll only get up again in Thai, so at the moment he seems to be only partially bilingual.
Mind-you, in matters related to barbequed chicken I've found out that he can work it out in any language you choose.

A rolled up newspaper works... then the sentences become just loud single words...but be ready to run also!

Many Thanks for the responses and contacts.

I have received some PM s of local trainers so I ll probably go for this option as my time is always short!!

At the moment I m using the rolled newspaper and stern words on them BUT this is turning into a full scale scrap so not ideal.

My GF just smiles and laughs at them as they landscape the garden destroy the washing and attack our visitors. Snakes included.

When I met the GF she asked for a child or a dog. I thought the dogs were going to be the easy option!!!!! Or maybe I m getting too old.

A side topic, I remember someone here in the states, years ago. They trained their dogs to only eat from an approved bowl. This way no one could poison them.

Always thought that was a good idea.

Good to see you have found some local dag trainers. It is not only the dogs that need training it is the owners. There was a ery good programme about bad dogs in the UK a few yers ago. What they did they trained the owners and the dogs. It worked.
The first thing you must do is establish yourself and your wife as the pack leaders.
The local kennels in Hua Hin are run by a ex Swedish police dog trsainer.
He carries small lumps of dried liver in his pocket. This treat means that dogs which are strangers immediately like him.
Reward is the best form of training no treat until they sit, my dog has to sit and say please by lifting a paw, once he learned that the rest was easy, he now sits on command even when 50 yards away and stays even when I am out of sitem walks to heel of the lead. No rolled up newspaper just tone of voice and treats I learned this at dog training classes in the UK has worked with every dog I have had.
