If you're not already aware we'll be able to view a solar eclipse from Hua Hin on Wednesday July 22 (providing its not peeing down).

Details:
Time: 7 - 9am
Maximum coverage: 36%

More details here:

It looks like the north is going to get the best show. Good chance to teach my little one for the first time not to look directly at an eclipse. I'll have to look for some smoked glass. Will a Chang bottle suffice? Pete

Is she going to put the bottle to her eye or to her mouth? If the latter, you'd better make sure it's empty first :D

Yeah, it'll be cool, for sure, I wrongly post about this on the 'Thailand photo thread' in 'Entertainment' a while back. Maybe this thread will be better for some photos, if people have capable cameras.

 Cool!

Pete, any hardware shop will stock replacement welder's filter glass. Much better than smoked glass and is pretty cheap. Most common is shade #11, but try to get closer to #15 if you can.

I'm raiding my welding shop stores if it's not raining.

Thanks Vincent, good tip and better than using Chang bottles as binoculars! Pete

Doesn't look like we'll be able to see much anyway with this rain hanging around:

Aghh!!! Pujuh!!!

Likewise here in Bangers where the clouds hang down'n low all evening now!

Here are some interesting notes from a couple Chinese Astrologers who look for sign of Future events and so forth.
This total Solar eclipse will have effects world wide they say! "Each time when such a long Solar Eclipse happens over the last 200 years or so a world war or small scale world war would happen!" said one Chinese Astrologer in an interwiev with german news site Spiegel Online!
Same goes for the Thai Astrologers who are forcasting upeavils in the Oceans to a point where Tsunamies can accur!
I'll take both forecasts with a grain of salt!
What do you think of this Buksida and y'all my Homies of HHAD Chilloutlians!!!

That seems to be a pretty safe prediction at any time ...............

It's not going to happen this side of the gulf. Totally cloudy and 200+ mm of rain predicted for the next two days. :( I'm going to need to worry about drowning, forget the sun. Pete
