Vietnamese Restaurant
I noticed a Vietnamese restaurant on Pechkasem road opposite the Night Market.
It was upstairs.
Has anyone here tried it?
Is it good?

i think it is firstly a bar, but that may have changed as the bar was a ghost town. done up lovely inside but completely wrong location and UPSTAIRS to boot.
went in there about a month ago on a friday and was the only one there. 2 groups of people walked in and out, had something wrong about it.
food menu looked ok.
give it a try, might enjoy.
i have started going to different places every friday night now, just to see what is available. went to Papa Johns for the first time last week and the food was delicious. followed by a few pints of guiness at the new Lost Bar.
theres plenty to see and do past Bintabart.

There is a very good Thai/Vietnamese place on Petchkasem road heading toward Takiab just a couple of hundred meters before the flyover on the east side of the road.
It is called the "North Sea Restaurant". I've been there a few times and tried both Thai and Vietnamese dishes and they were all good and the service was excellent as well. The Thai dishes are "Chang Mai" style so it is an interesting place with a bit of different fare from the usual Thai places around here. Other than the street noise, the ambiance is good too as they have done the place up nicely with kind of a Thai/modern motif.
I highly recommend it for a nice dinner out with the family, wife, or girlfriend.

Hi HHF,hhfarang wrote:Francois, yes, but that would be sad. Fine dining should always be enjoyed in the company of family or good friends! Although, the lady who runs the place is very nice... I'm sure she would have some pleasant conversation with you if you were to dine there alone.Alone too ??
I was just kidding and I agree that's much better when with friends or family. I will check this restaurant in May and thanks for the complementary information about the lady who is running the place

Madame Nu
Tonight my friends like having dinner firstly we tried to find the Labanise Restaurant on Phetchakasam road but we couldn't find it. Then we decided to go vietnamese food and my brit friend said he saw one beside Market Village, the newliest one in town. I have seen it for some time ago (i think it must be bloody expensive (this time is my turn)... and a bit too beautiful, a bit formal like a hotel.....but i was wrong!! Not that i scary!!
At 7:30pm we went there-the new Vietnamese Restaurant, named Madame Nu. We did order Madame Nu salad(90 Baht), Grill meat ball(NaamNuang)(90 baht), Vietmese saugage salad(90 Baht), Lime pork(90 Baht), Victorian chicken pie(155 Baht), special Somtam and coconut ice cream(65 Baht), Beer, ice-lemon tea.
Honestly, if this place is located in Hotel must be at least 170-200 Baht each dish!! Believe me. Beautiful food both looking and taste.
Surprising me, all is selected, restaurant decorating, dishes, glasses equitment-everythings is marvelous. Food itself is more like in a 5 stars hotel!! Believe me, NaamNuang is ready to eat, it was set in plate, so easy to glap it in mouth (of course another plate of vegetable is on the table). I also had something i like, i asked what it was (it came with the special Somtam (my farang friend fantacy Somtam without seafood inside!! it is made from fried coconut sticky rice-- It was very yummy yummy, it have never had it before in BKK. All are tasty and delicious.
My Brit and Belgiem friend had all of the Victorian chicken pie, i haven't touch it yet... ( i was enjoy Grill meat ball) They said so deliciouse, like from having from England.
By the way i do really like coconut ice cream home made. It was in the young fresh coconut shell!! It is delicious--so fresh with young coconut meat piece inside both from fresh coconut and from that ice cream. It was in the perfect condition, fresh, soft and melt, good smell and underline is not too sweet.
The owner that i spoke is Sam- He had 4 branches of Vietnamese Restaurant in BKK. Good english speaking and good entertain by his nature, it was fun. He was very funny!! Unbelievable that what i have not thought ...
Drinking water is free of charge, no service charge and credit card is accepted!! Then i get my cash back and used my credit card instead.
My goodness, i am going to be there again.. I like this place.

I had lunch at the Madame Nu today and was pleasantly surprised of the very good food they served. The service was quite ok while the prices are surprisingly low. They serve also a good espresso for those who appreciate that.
The owner is Thai and he retired end of last year from Thai Airways were he was a purser. He mentioned that he has also four other Vietnamese restaurants in Bangkok.
Pay it a visit and enjoy the good food.

Was at the Monsoon a couple of years ago and although I do not think it was 100% Vietnamese they were advertising a lot of French/Vietnamese dishes. As we used to eat at a great place in Sydney thought we would try, as we enjoyed the one in Sydney so much.
I can tell you we were not dissapointed with the food in the Monsoon. It was as good if not better than the one we ate at in Sydney and returned again before we left.
