Gave you bad info last night CHAS. I looked this morning and the green/blue Thai Government sticker on the outside unit does not state the BTU. Also, the manufacturer plate on the side of my outside unit has a ton of info, but not the BTU. It does have KCal/h which I assume an be converted into BTU but I don't know how to do it. Google time. If you check the Samsung brochure/manual I'm sure the BTU rating is in there.

Also, the name of the fourth Japanese aircon manufacturer above was wrong. It's Saijo Denki. Pete

Ants and lizards

Post by Chas »

True to life in the real world, this thread seems to have attracted ants and lizards as a subtopic!!

OK. I got rid of the tiny ants with a little bait trap from Tesco . .to which I added jam. Haven't seen them in a month or two.

Still cleaning up lizard shit every morning though so I know I haven't gotten all of them yet and probably never will. My aim is to keep the population down.

Air conditioners ( back to topic here)

Pete, I went and read over every label on the AC and you are correct. No BTU notation at all. (Wattage 825 seems whopping to me though, but who knows if that is when it is going full bore or just when it is on "fan only" or what.

I removed ( and saved) a bar code label and the green govt sticker while I was at it. ( Referencing another thread, they both came off without residue.)

The energy label and the one next to it are out of sight so I left them. And I know from experience those energy labels are super-glued on to stay!

The manual is all in Thai however and what I was able to find on the internet in English is rather limited. We have worked out a few functions though ..on/off for example.

I would like to figure out as well if just running the ac fan ( if that option indeed exists) is much more expensive than running a stand-alone fan.
You might be able to download the manual from f.ex. here:

Thanks farang

Thanks for that website farang. I did a major search yesterday and was unable to get anything close.
No surprise, the model I have has the manual available only in Thai!

However, I have managed to find a manual for a similar model available in Canada and I am reading through it now.

Hi all ,
Here in the UK i have experience in been selling AC equipment
Mitsubishi, designing and sizing up equipment for endusers and consultants as well as installing and contracting jobs from a single systems to large hotel/office ac projects for the past ten years and more
( i know yawn!.)

I am currently designing / quoting for several companies and when i move to HH in March/April 2010 i still planning on continuing to do this
to keep the brain ticking over ( low key mind as i want to slow down! )

i have always wondered if here is a market for my design input or
equipment selections over in LOS... probably not i know
but worth the ask...i know you can pick up a system in lotus tescos etc...
but they are certainly not Daikin or Toshiba when it comes to running
costs or features ... least in LOS im sure you dont have method statements or risk assessment to do or wait for hot work permits....
Roll on the move!!!!

just wondered if there was a market....
as the missus just has me pencilled in for school runs!!!
and keeping the house clean!!!
shes more likely to come home to find me wrestling with
the mother in law (the thai grandma)

Over in HH in October yippee!!!!!! first time for 3 years!!!
The only Geordie in sleepy Cha am since 2009
