Where is the post office in Hua hin please?
Good morning,
Could one of you lovely residents please inform me of where I can find the nearest post office?
I am hoping to send a small package home to avoid carrying it when I head down south. I only want to send a textbook and a small amount of clothes. Any idea on the cost of this to England|? I'm not too fussed about speedy delivery but within a few weeks would be nice.
Whilst I'm here, anyone know of a friendly bar I can have a drink later that is safe for a young woman travelling alone? Looking for good conversation and a cold drink.
Thanks alot

Hi AjarnAmi and welcome to the forum...
Although I have been away from HH for a while I suspect the post office is still in the same place...
If you click on the Hua Hin map button located at the bottom of this page you can scroll down to the post office which is located in Damnoen road opposite the Police station. The road is between soi 59 and soi 63. Its quite big so you shoudn't miss it. It can also get rather busy so don't expect a swift visit. Unless your rather lucky...

Regarding the 2nd part of the question, I know Mrs BB thought she would be clever and send a parcel of foodstuffs by post to co-incide with her return to the UK (our bags were already at their weight limit). I think it cost her almost 3,000 Baht, so it's not cheap
.
I wouldn't really know where to recommend for part 3 of the question. It depends on how safe she wants, and how confident she is in herself.

Why not try the new McCartney bar on the Naresdamri Road. It is located on the right hand side of the road heading south. Just pass the La Paillote restaurant.
I've been to the bar twice and i find it friendly. It is a small bar and the customers appears to be mostly British. Its location is also away from the 'girly bar' area.

Market Village
We always use the Post Office at Market Village. A sub-post office, recently upgraded and it looks very nice now. They seem to be able to do everything the main Post Office does. Fast service and never a line or wait.
Best of all they are open on most holidays and into the evening.( Not sure but I think they are open until 9. )
At the Main Post Office expect long lines, take a ticket and wait system, lots of people hanging about on both sides of the counter . . .no parking of course. ( Always reminded me of the wet market . . .without the smells) I haven't been there since Market Village opened, so maybe it has changed for the better by now?

Norseman, are you pulling my leg? You're saying you can actually mail a motorbike here.Norseman wrote:Just back from the main post office in Damnoern Kasem Road where I arranged to send my old Honda Wave motorbike to my wife's family in Issan, not far from Buriram.
The cost was 1620 Baht and one must expect a 10 days delivery time.
Not bad me thinks.

Maybe the 1620 baht is for gas and 10 days is for the rider to deliver mail along the way.

I'm going to go tomorrow and ask how many stamps I need for a small elephant.
