Hi, folks. My name is Chris and I am snowbirding the winter in Hua Hin from Anchorage, Alaska. I have a million questions but lets start with what will 22,000 Bt. per month rent get me for a 5 month rental.(condo furnished or house furnished) near beach and golf courses. I have looked on the e- but those are advertised rates. What can I expect. Also how might I go about communicating via e-mail with one or two persons as I have two months and a dozen questions to ask? Any suggestions? Thanks,

For 22,000Baht you should get something half decent. For little more than half of that I can usually get a 3 bedroomed townhouse in the centre of town.

I'm not quite sure about the last part of your questions. If you are looking to e-mail friends from Hua Hin, there are plenty of Internet Cafes about, and they're very cheap. If that's not what you mean, maybe you could expand your question.

Absolutely!!!!!!! This will be my 3rd. visit to Hua Hin. Traveled 3mo.s in southern Thailand in early 1998, and spent 1 week there in 2002. Stayed at Guest Houses and didn't really look for property rentals. A lot has changed there since I was last there according to the web. I am retired and looking probably to spend my winters there in the coming years if I have a positive experience this year.Hopping this forum can help me achieve that.

Thanks for the reply, Big Boy. My question was whether I could connect with Expats already living there who could answer some of my questions directly without filling up this forum. What do you consider half decent? I'm looking for a 1 bedroom furnished something with English satellite tv,internet connection, near beach ,golf courses,( you know, Paradise) perhaps with a little view of the ocean. hoping to spend around 22,000 Baht. What do you think?

If its a fellow American you are looking to email, PM me. (Also retired I might add. ) You may not have noticed this as a newbie here but this forum is heavily weighted ( no pun intended )toward British football types and us Yanks form a tiny minority.

I dont know much about the seasonal rentals here, but since my brother and his wife are coming for the month of January, we are also in the process of looking for a condo similar to that which you describe. We are more concerned that my brother doesnt have to drive anywhere and are looking at walking distance to the mall/ downtown. ( Golf not in the picture) Our ballpark figure has been in the 10,000 to 15,000 baht per month range though. 22,000 will pay for something pretty luxurious I believe, but we havent done the serious homework yet.

Feel free to ask your questions on the open forum. Be sure that if you don't know, there will be 12 others afraid to ask. It is the combined effect of all of these questions being answered that makes this forum the valuable resource that it is.

Here's a photo of the town house I've rented on our last 2 visits (just behind Jed Pee Nong Hotel, in fact their swimming pool was only 15 yards from our front door)



It had 3 A/C Bedrooms (1 en-suite), 3 Bathrooms, fully equiped kitchen and large living area. It was fully furnished (although the living area was a little sparse) - I think we paid 13,000 for a month.

Hi Chris, I rented this house for 2 years. It cost me 12,000 bhat a month. It had 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms with a communal pool just around the corner...



So it seems you have plenty of bang for your buck...

I arrived beginning of Nov. 2007 in Hua Hin and looked for a long term rent of a house. The best houses were already rented for the winter months, so it was not so easy to find really a good one. Finally a lady, who owns a bar, helped me to find a house similar to Randy's for 16 000 Baht with a one year contract (otherwise 18 000). But a similar house in the same village rented through an agency was 25 000 Baht/month. So it is much cheaper if you look for yourself, there are often private tel. nr. attached to houses for rent.

Thank you people of the forum. The info is much appriciated. I will need to stay in a Guest House for a week or so while looking for a rental. Any recomendations? I stayed at one just south of town both times I was There. I think it was called the Sea View but not sure. Owned by an Englishman in '98 but sold to a Nothern European by '02. It was just fine for my purposes. Also, can I get a translator ( thai/English) with transportation to help me find and secure a rental. How much per hour/day? More questions later. Thanks again!!!!!!!!

RC, deep in the jungles of which part of Isan is that? Considering moving north myself sometime after I get settled back in. Is that 'fair price' up there?

Korkenzieher, I believe the reference to being Ernest is from Oscar Wilde's play " The Importance of Being Ernest ". A must read!!!!!!!
