Wood Carver
Wood Carver
HI
Is there any place in Hua Hin where I can find a Wood Carver?
I would like to have carved the name I am going to call my new house in Hua Hin.

Gunnar, I haven't been up there in a while but there used to be a stall in the night market that had a carver that would carve to order and that is one of the things they made; wood nameplates for the front of your house.
Maybe someone who has been to the market lately can verify if they still come or not.

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

You were right first time HHF, there is a carver, a lad in his mid-20's who has a stall in the long 'night market', used him many times, he does excellent work and made to order stuff is very quick.hhfarang wrote:My wife says I may have been thinking about the Grand market instead of the night market... says she's seen them there.
There may be on in the Grand Market too, but never noticed one!?

Not so fast HHF!! Just cut through market tonight and he wasn't there. Usually in front if all those flashy wooden tourist-style restaurants, but seems to be a lot more of them now and open right to market walkway. Maybe some stalls have had to move, maybe he's gone to Grand Market now? Or maybe just not there tonight, they don't all do every night.
Might have to check both markets Gunnar.

PS: HHF, still wrong after 14 years ?

I'm curious about what we're really talking about here.
Is this a man who actually takes a block of wood and a scroll saw (I guess the correct term?) and artistically etches letters numbers and designs into the wood?
Or, is it just a rustic looking plank of wood where the wooden letters/numbers and any decoration is glued on?
I've seen many of the latter and not too many of the other. Pete

I think I meant a 'router' not a scroll saw, although the individual numbers/letters/decorations of the glued on version would probably be made with a scroll saw. Peteprcscct wrote: .....and a scroll saw (I guess the correct term?)
