PM's motorcade pelted with fermented fish, bottles, sandals in Lop Buri
The motorcade of Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva was pelted with bags of fermented fish, water bottles and sandals when it was leaving the a municipality office Saturday morning.
Abhisit, Deputy Prime Minister Korbsak Sabhavasu, PM's Office Minister Satit Wongnongtaey and Deputy Commerce Minister Alongkorn Pollabutr travelled together in a motorcade to the Tambon Thawung Municipality in Thawung district.
The prime minster went there to give price guarantee contracts and registration certificates to farmers who registered under the commodity price guarantee scheme. The prime minister also taped his TV programme at the municipality office.
Some 50 red-shirt protesters protested against the prime minister about 30 metres away from the office.
At 10 am, when the motorcade left the office, the protesters bombarded the motorcade with fermented fish bags, water bottles and sandals.

Hmmmm.......nothing new, I know, but so much for reconciliation, whole subject seems to be dragging on with no common ground to be found at all, it really is a super polarised society with no answer to the current situation.

I think he's a very capable person but his record so far in getting things done is abysmal. I think he spends most of his time holding the coalition together and stomping out fires. Pete

Every Thai that I have spoken to, be they in the red or yellow camp, wants economic recovery first and is sick of all this bullshit. Politicians are destroying this country.
Abhisit seems to have a lot of good ideas especially for education and economic reform but implementing them through the layers of corrupt politicians beneath him is a virtually impossible task, and as said above he is also trying to constantly put out the fires.
It is painfully obvious that it doesn't matter who is at the helm of the ship when the structure of it is rotten to the core.

Buksi,Politicians are destroying this country.
While that is fairly obvious to us living here, it's not just this country. Politicians are destroying the world! I can't remember anything good done by any politician anywhere in the last two decades!

Has politics always been so corrupt and I just didn't pay attention before or were there once honest politicians?
Anyway, this thread is about Thailand politics. Maybe we need one in Foo about politicians in general...

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
Buksida is right, it doesn't matter who's in charge, it's just gone too far with the corrupt layers of people below, all the way down to kindergarden teachers/postal officials/minor mickey mouse local governors and stooges/village headmen etc. It permiates into every corner of everything and few want to see the status quo change too much. Abhisit does appear capable and have so ideas but I also can't help getting the feeling that his strings are being pulled by the puppet master and he's the presentable/media friendly face of it all.

The understudy Rogers that Buksida my Man!!!
I would like to add if we have a few more good Men with great Ideas such as Abhisit within the Cabinet Thailand would be so better off but instead we Thais have to be content with some old political Dinosaurs who still ain't havin enough extorted, corrupted, major wealth into their own coffers. which sickens me.
Being here in Thailand for almost 10 years (smack that dude! It ain't to long til my 10th aniversary here in DA Land of (Cramped) Smiles!)
during the latter post graduate years I had grown to be a Society critic trying constructive crititcism (Which Thai's still have difficulty to take it.) to make Thailand a better place. I haven't givin up hope for Thailand just yet.
PS: If did givien up Hope I would have moved on to greener pastures allready!
