Jaime, honestly I have not been any where to Europe, I like to but I don’t know when, I guess ONEDAY I will, and the word INNIT- I just picked up from mefriends who they from Europe and I think its cool short word, but its not better than speak full proper English and I know that, that is why I had asking many Farrangs not to says too bad and idiot word to Thai as we just picked up so well and when we are swearing…..DON’T BLAME!!!!!!!!!.......Chai mai kah…INNIT?

Other thing, INNIT its not Wales people who they like to saying when they are talking, but INNIT is London people who they like to say as most of them I have talk to are from England and most friend of mine are English…Inglees. and they like to say INNIT :o

And I agreed that Jet Skis things its not to good for people who they like to go to swim around that beach because every time when I go to that beach I have see loads of older people more than younger people and I am sure those older people they like to be at a nice and quiet with a very comfortable beach…..its true I bet!

I digress....Innit is of as far as I'm aware is short for 'isn't it' used by Americans and so of course transferred to most of the western world and beyond. The welsh use a similar phrase which means the same but sounds longer. Its a bit difficult to type.......ha ha ha.

But Americans only have a half hearted attempt to speak any language. It's mostly acronyms. You'll shorten our wonderful language beyond belief.
INNIT, Gezzer?

Hi Oe, if and when you meet Mrs Jaime you will find that she finishes (and sometimes starts) many sentences with either 'innit' or 'love' when speaking English. These are affections that amongst others she has picked up here in South Wales, except that here the final 't' is dropped so that 'innit' becomes 'inni' - this is a shortening rather than a lengthening Randy; we are actually very economical with our consonants here in Wales!

Oe,. Innit is a great word, as as someone pointed out is slang or lazy language for isn't it or for the all you ex grammer school people is it not.

We have English Language students board with us from time to time, and our 1st one was a young Japanese girl whose English was not the best. She had been with us for about 3 weeks, and was in her class one day when her tutor asked if she had been into Perth City in West Australia while she had been with us.

In her reply to her tutor, she stated. "I was in Perth City last weekend".
Her tutor asked where she had picked up such bad grammer in such a short space of time, to which she replied, 'Stephen my homestay father speaks like that all of the time" so I though it would be Ok.

So do not worry about INNIT and WAS are great words

As we are on about slang words in the English Language, what is the most versitile word in the English Language.

I would have to go for the word "Bollocks", just think about all of the different meanings and conotations that this word is used in during general conversation.

Listen to one of the 1st Specials albums (cannot remmember the title), and listen to the track "Its all a load of Bollocks", and you will be as confused as most people are.

And as we all know, `bollocks' is slang for........

I kinda like the term the "Dogs Bollocks", meaning, hmm, another slang term, the `business', I suppose it could relate to `very good', if being very polite!

I Just wondered if anyone knew why a term referring to Dogs testicles came to denote something that's the Bees knees??? :)

Jaime, Thanks very much for your posted, that is good for me as far as I have learn a little more about what the INNIT from and IN NI, it might be useful for me in the future when I ever visit the UK…..or when I have meet more UK people,

Chelsea, you are right because many people from many different places like to speak their own language and there is slang.
Innit is for a lazy people who they don’t like to speak the long word and it’s easy with a English slang (including me) but I think many people from UK like to say Innit word anyway.
Yeh….what ever when people are on about Most just about “talking BOLLOCKSâ€

This one is going "a tad" off topic.

Can we move language discussions to the language department.

Because it can.

And just for th record, at home in my part of ireland isnt it bcomes

E'scuse me for not talkin' 'bout language, but may I mention the ocean in Hua Hin on this thread?

The jellyfish appear to have gone, finally. :D What was that, an invasion? And totally out of season, right? Anyway, I think I can get back in the sea.

I can't believe that I lived at the foot of the statue at Khao Takiab since late July, and hadn't gone to see the monkeys (they're not always there). What characters! And they swim under water like a fish.

Still, even when I'm not in the water, I love living right at the beach. Sunrises, moonrises, just walking, watching the sand crabs. It surely does beat living in Houston and driving for an hour to get to the beach.

Have just come back from a few days in HH - and my boyfriend was stung by a jelly fish! But am pleased to report that it was a minor sting and very quickly went down (after I had peed on it - just kiddin'!). So I wouldn't worry too much.

The chicken and cashew nut dish at the Han Soi beach is the best food I have ever tasted, and the masseuse on the beach there is the best in Thailand - I would definitely head there.

You must be kidding! Last time I went there (about a month ago) you couldn't see the beach for the number of deck chairs, tables and overweight Scandinavians!

I remember the good old days when you could go down there and literally be the only person on the beach ... this was 7 years ago though.

That aside it still is a beautiful spot.
