Post by PeteC »

We've all been real good about this on here, but worth the reminder as they appear to be stepping up surveillance. Pete

Defence Minister Prawit Wongsuwon on Thursday ordered all military units and their commanders to keep a close watch for websites running reports with lese majeste content, defence spokesman Col Thanathip Sawangsaeng said.

Pol Gen Prawit issued the order at today's meeting of the Defence Council.

All military units and their commanders who come across such websites were to coordinate with the Information and Communication Technology Ministry to take legal action against them, the spokesman said.

Units under the Internal Security Operations Command have also been tasked with monitoring community radio stations for lese majeste content.
Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. Source

No surprise there, for those interested more info on Thailand's ever increasing internet censorship can be found here:

That's just given everyone in the Thai military a great excuse to be on the internet all day!

I've mentioned before, but I'll never forget the ICT minister under Thaksin going over to China for some meeting.
He came back here spouting off about how good the internet censorship was in China. And he couldn't understand what all the fuss was about the internet. He had three email addresses, but a telephone was easier. The only time he looked at the internet was when he wanted to check golf scores.
He got fired, but I don't the situation had improved.
