British woman beaten and raped in coconut farm on Samui

Post by Spitfire »

A taxi driver was under arrest today after a British woman claims she was brutally raped on the Thai holiday island of Koh Samui.

The 28-year-old woman claims she asked a taxi driver to take her back to her room - but was instead taken to a coconut plantation.
When she arrived there, she was dragged screaming from the car, beaten and then raped, said police.
Stunning: Koh Samui is spectacularly beautiful but the Thai holiday island has a history of violent attacks on foreign women tourists
After the alleged attack, the woman told police she was robbed of her cash and dumped by the road to walk home.
Police in Thailand today arrested and charged a 21-year-old local taxi driver with rape.
Officers are also questioning an accomplice who allegedly used his pick-up to dump the semi-conscious woman afterwards.

It is claimed the second man robbed the woman, known as Lily which is understood not to be her real name, of 1,700 Thai baht (£31.60p).

Police on Koh Samui say that the 21-yr-old taxi driver picked up the woman, an English Language teacher, as a fare early on Saturday morning at Chaweang Beach.
But they say he drove past the woman's lodgings at Lamai Beach and instead took her to a house at a coconut plantation where he carried out the alleged attack.

'He dragged her out of the car against her will and beat her in the process. He then raped her in the house,' said Deputy Police Commander Paiboon Krajakchan.

'His friend arrived in a pick-up and then friend then transferred the semi-conscious woman to a pick-up truck and dumped her beside the road near Lamai.

'He took all her money.'

The deputy police chief added: 'We are treating this matter seriously. It is important that Koh Samui is seen as a safe destination for tourists.'
Koh Samui has been the scene of a number of rapes of British and foreign tourists.
The most infamous case was that of Katherine Horton who was raped and murdered on Lamai Beach on New Year's day 2006 by two fisherman, who boasted to friends that she was 'fun and delicious'.

The fishermen were sentenced to death, reduced later to life imprisonment.

Samui is really bad for this and the police are infamous for covering it up as they are so paranoid about the island's image. In this case it's noticable how brazen these perps were, started from a registered taxi/tuk-tuk, drives past her hotel to a coconut farm of his or a friends, then a friend of his rocks up in his pick-up, steals her money, and leaves her not to far from her hotel to walk home as if they can do what they like. This is not an isolated case, there are many stories of this type about Samui on the news sites.

What a terrible ordeal these animals put this poor woman through.

Thank heaven they did not kill her afterwards and got their just deserts and will spend life in jail.

May they rot in hell.

Lets hope that the lady has the love and support of her family and friends to help her get through the following months and years.
I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.

Just to think that there was a stand advertising discounted Samui holidays at Market Village yesterday! Will check the brochure for the warning disclosures.
Both the perps should be "whistlecocked"!

At the risk of eternal condemnation. Why oh why do girls travel alone?
Surely a recipe for disaster whether here OR elsewhere.

I remember back in the 80's when this place was filled with single Japanese girls traveling alone or with one female friend. They didn't hesitate to explore every inch of this country. Lucky those were gentler times here, as I don't recall ever reading or hearing about problems like this. Pete

My Thai wife will not even take a taxi alone in Bangkok. She has heard stories like this about lone (Thai) females taking taxis all her life...
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
