Trying to get a feel for costs around the area now that the new Hua Hin hospital is already open.loverboy44 wrote:Petcharat Hospital 1200 Baht per night = 6000 Baht
Were the girls included Jimmy?
1200 Baht but is that including medicines etc.
Our daughter was born in Petcharat and she was also there five day/nights Think the bill was around 45,000 - 50,000 baht 3 years ago.

I think that San Paolo is far overcharging and ny the way an incompetent hospital.
No, that was only for the stay. You have to add food and medicine.
But 34000 baht for a treatment of Dengue seems far to high for me.
A birth is more expensive than a Dengue treatment.
By the way a short story about San Paolo.
A friend of mine suffered from headache after a motorbike accident.
They sent him back home with Paracetamol and told him it will not be so bad.
After 2 weeks of heavy headache he went again and they said the same without doing a headscan.
The next morning his wife called me and said that he can not stand it any more.
I brought them to Petcharat where they made a headscan and half an hour later he was on the table for surgery. He had blood in his brain.

A few years ago a friend of mine had a heart attack and was severly paralysed. After a few weeks a friend of his wanted to get him out of san paolo for a coffee over the road. In his wheel chair. They made the friend leave his credit card and watch as security in case he fled the country. Saline drip pajamas and all...
,
Nice to see the high level of care at san paolo...

I recently had a medical examination (for health insurance) at Sao Paulo.
Blood tests, chest x-ray and ECG....+ Doctor signed a form
8,000 Baht!!!!!! The nurses were nice but the Doc had the personality of
a Sea Urchin....
I paid the 8,000....and had to go back with a Urine test the following day.
They wanted me to pay another 800 baht.....I asked what for...they said
Doctor fee.....I showed them my receipt which already included the Doctor fee...of 1,000 Baht.... they smiled and said OK....
I don't plan on going back there again.....

I was applying for the Liberty Mutual "Mega Series" through AA in Pattayaloverboy44 wrote:Mork, which insurance was that?
They usually pay for the health check.
Sounds strange.
Not only do they not pay for the medical exam....they even charge you
100 baht for mailing out the policy documents.
HOWEVER....after months of research and comparing contracts they still had
the best overall premium and coverage....even when I added in the costs
of the medical etc.

Agree with JG that the aircon factor might be the suspect number one to blame here in Thailand, or the usual (ab)use of sigarettes.
If you can, and are able, to post a few lines about it, it would be highly appreciated.
Also your personal experience from San Paulo would be of great value.

I intend to live forever - so far so good.
a medical mystery tour. After persisting with a nasty sore on head for some time (>1 year) finally gathered the courage to attempt to find out why the magical cure alls from jars didn't work.
1.Visit Dr - don't know but could be an infection. Take antibiotics. No good !
2. go to San Paolo - don't have a Dermatologist. Go to Petchaburi.
3. Dr at Petchaburi says looks like a skin cancer but can't do anything here. Go to BKK. Any recommendations - Yes Bumrungrad.
4. get to Bumrungrad (thought I had gone back to Dubai) - go to skin clinic 30 minute wait and speculation from Dr either a wort or SCC . Take Biopsy (couple thou. Bht). Results in 3 days.
5. 4 days later results indicate SCC - come back this Sat. and speak to plastic surgeon.
6. Yeap SCC and have to surgically remove. Cost ~55,000 Bht. When can you do - this arvo. Hand over the credit card. Back in 1.5 hours wheeled up to operating room and had it removed.
Still in rehab mode but totally mobile with a crater on the sconce and another 10 thou out of pocket (medicines/travel etc).
Moral of the story - WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR LIFE IS WORTH???
