Meeting the wife's father, he is a BIB. :(

He pulled his gun out and waved it under my nose and said something in Thai, which the wife translated for me. "He is telling you that I am his only daughter and you must treat me well"

We still have a laugh about it, as it turned out to be a wind up concocted by the wife and her dad.

10 years later and she is still my favorite. Can you guess why?

:guns:
I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.

Falling in love for the first time as an adult. Realising that I don't hold the keys to anything that is important in my life anymore.

This was also a most profound moment in my life with my realisation (as a young and inspired individual), that I am not the most important being in my life, another had surpassed me.

(As well as being scary, this was also just one of the more happy moments in my life).

A severe asthma attack 21 years ago. I couldn't see how I could survive? In fact I had resigned myself to not doing so and all became very calm as a consequence, if hardly pleasant. Then a jab on the arm from my Doctor who came from I not know not where and a couple of nights in hospital and all was well. Something to treat with respect and something I am proud has never stopped me from doing anything.

I've had some bad flights and sea crossings, but nothing matched that feeling.

It's hard to say which is the scariest, but I had a couple of close calls in twenty years of scuba diving where I thought I was a goner briefly. Two attempted robberies, a mugging in Amsterdam where I actually managed to outrun the mugger because of gallons of adrenalin coursing through my veins, and a hold up at gun point when I was a teenage cashier in a supermarket. I also had a full blown, get to the emergency room as fast as possible, asthma attack about 20 years ago that was pretty scary (daily meds have made sure that hasn't happened again). I was chased by a bear once and a moose another time... the moose was scarier because she was a mother defending her young and the bear was only curious and wanted to know if I had a handout for him. I climbed a tree to escape the moose and played ring around the motorcycle until the bear lost interest and went back to the line of cars on the road throwing food out for him... much thanks to those tourists!
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

I have asthma to, but i have not suffered from a severe asthma attack in a long time. I had a couple of severe asthma attacks requiring me to go to a hospital for treatment when i was a young child but i haven't had any severe asthma attacks in recent years.

This is easy to answer. The scariest moment of my life by a country mile was seeing my son, when he was about 18 months old, walk in to the path of an oncoming Volvo at a local beauty spot. Everyone in the Volvo, including the driver was looking to their right, at the view of the lake and mountains. Somehow I managed to scream loudly enough for the occupants of the car to notice and the driver slammed the brakes on, bringing bumper of the car to a screeching halt about two inches (no exaggeration) from my boys' head.

I still haven't fully recovered from that and it was 6 years ago. My heart rate has increased whilst typing this!

Well watched this thread with interest and had many scary moments so difficult to choose. A lot depends on age and time of life

So out of all my scary encounters this has to be this one:

14 years old at a strict public school in Yorkshire and after being caught off limits with a girl in town was administer 8 with the cane from 'backhand Jimmy bleeder'. He was deputy head and caned backhand and always drew blood. Some had to be treated by the school doctor after punishment.

Standing outside his study on a Sunday night after Complin (high church evening service) was a knee trembler and cold sweat time.

It was always administered with your pants down so no books could take the brunt

Seen the film 'If''? Well I think I was there. Not a lot of difference in the film to my days at public school except the finale but with some friend we administered that after we left

Incidentally, punishment time was Sunday night. So, 6am Communion, midday highchurch service, clean kit for for Monday, lunch with a gill of beer, afternoon free, high tea, Complin and then canings followed by supper and homework.

A great one for religion and public schools folks Eh?

It’s none of my business what people say and think of me. I am what I am and do what I do. I expect nothing and accept everything. It makes life so much easier.

I originally wrote about a scary flight, but whilst in HH I found a lump on my scrotum and went cold. Well you are supposed to have only two...!

I booked an appointment in Bangkok and spent 3 days worrying myself to death.

After the third day the lump turned out to be a boil. I have been very grateful to this day. It still haunts me.

Its well to remember that your life/health can turn on a sixpence. It certainly puts a diffrent perspective on things... :|
