I have nothing concrete from this side, but it's a week away from high season and no news whatsoever, not a peep.

There is a boat(s) but they've either found big problems with sea trials, or the 'fees'to get the required licenses and permits have proven insurmountable...i.e., some politician wants to keep his options open in case he wants to start a service within the next 100 years.

I can neither confirm or deny the above, but feel that's very sad if in fact that is how it ends. I'm visiting in January & was hoping to take the boat to Pattaya.Wanderlust wrote:I have been told by someone who has seen the boat, but not someone that I know so this may not be correct, that after the last sea trial the boat was being dragged ashore and got dropped off the apparatus onto concrete, and that this has caused some serious damage (stress fractures) which will require some serious repair work. I was also told that the Thai boat builder took it upon himself to add a few feet at the back of the boat which then caused some problems during the trials as he didn't also move the engine to balance the boat. The person that told me this hinted that the cost of fixing this may be too much for the service ever to start up, and that the Swedish backers were expecting the boat builder to pay for the problems, as both the damage and design faults were his, but that this was pretty unlikely to happen. I again stress that this is a story related to me by someone I just met so may not be correct but he did seem to know a lot about it. If there is anyone who knows maybe they can confirm, correct or deny the situation?
That's what SJ said one page back on 24 Sep.barrys wrote:BaaBaa. wrote:HH Fishing Pier.STEVE G wrote: Any idea where would that be Barry, Hua Hin, Pak Nampran or elsewhere?

Sent an email recently to operators asking about progress, wasn't really expecting a reply but just got one. Very nice email, apologizing for the delay to scheduled start, but they are still waiting for boat builders to complete the modifications. I'm assuming these are as a result from the recent sea trials, re-assuring to know they won't put it in service until it's good and ready.
Anyway, it's all still going ahead as soon as they can, no revised start date given just yet and the docking piers will be Bali Hai in Pattaya and the Fishing Pier in Hua Hin. Nice .
Cheers,
