Flying car cometh?

Post by Rider »

Just been looking around and saw this interesting article about a potential new energy force around the corner.

Basically the jist of it is this radical maverick inventor tried to get interest on his device utilising 'microwaves' or somesuch groove like that.
The US started using scientists to give him grief stating he's a crank, he's relying on junk science.
Then things get interesting when he goes to the Chinese with his theories and designs.
Well the Chinese being smart are looking into this with keen interest (probably because the US already have adv. tech but not in the east).

Anyway, enough of me rambling, here's what they are saying:

I don't suppose it will come to anything which is a pity because when I was a kid travelling around in the back of my fathers Ford Cortina, I thought that by the year 2010 we would all be flying around like something from Star Trek and all we've got so far is the Mondeo!

Actually I've done a bit of reading about this theory and there does seem to be some possibility behind it for the future.
The technology at present is being developed as a low impulse motor for positioning satellites by using electricity from solar panels.
To make a device that would be capable of lifting a flying car would apparently require advanced superconducting electronic technology that is some years away, but we might get this type of thing one day.
