1) 150 baht bank ATM charge back in the news. Let's say 12 million tourist arrivals per year with 6 million using their foreign ATM card here. That's a lot of cash the Thai bankers said, laughing all the way home.
2) Officials announced new bank regulations. It won't be until 2012 when foreign banks are allowed to open 2 additional provincial branches in addition to their main Bangkok office. Sure to be delayed to 2015, then cut to 1.
3) Leading academics stated that the SRT should not be privatized, as the "State" railway doesn't need to make a profit, only provide a service. I think there was something mentioned about alternative travel by bamboo barge and rickshaws in the event of train breakdowns, and discount Wat ceremonies for those who die in derailments.
4) Thailand has recalled it's Ambassador to Cambodia as Thaksin has been appointed as Cambodia's economic advisor. PM stated retaliation is needed, other MP's are snorting, stamping their feet and bellowing threats. At the same time the South continues to go up in flames with people killed weekly. Ho hum, not a big deal, it's far away and we're sending blimps down there anyway once the Americans agree to sell us the special cameras.
5) Infamous police captain Chalerm, would be PM and father of two famous sons who shoot people in night clubs and evade military service, has lost his hearing. Applause heard throughout Bangkok as that means he'll probably stop talking as well. He didn't hear the applause though, he's still smiling.
6) I don't want to comment on this one. Just read it:
