Yep, the frog eaters did it again. I'm not sure if I prefer; Irish potato football or French futbal des grenuilles. What I do prefer though is a good hooter like this Irish lassie. Not many of those around in Hua Hin - looking forward to a trip back to the continent soon.....

I think you've got an American lassie there LP. Looks like American football on the TV in the background. King of Prussia is a town in Pennsylvania and there is a Hooters restaurant there. My Mom and Dad used to live close by. Pete

Yeah, I just saw it on BBC. They review tape before handing down punishment to a player. Why can't they review tape for something like this? The whole thing leaves a bad taste in your mouth. :guns: Pete

Because in their view the Referee dealt with it, it was his call.
Thems the rules.

Not that Platini and co will be bothered that a group of players will undeservedly miss out on the biggest sporting event on the planet.

Now, would something have been done if the roles were reversed?
Considering who the men at the top are I think it would.

Absolutely ridiculous, not that it's the first time we've talked about shocking decisions, it's a weekly occurence.

Of course, had he still been an Arsenal player he would have owned up on the spot and a free kick awarded to Ireland!!!

The poor old Irish - pipped at the post by yet another European cheat (don't mention the war!). Henry and the French side should be ashamed of themselves and as for the myopic Swedish ref. and his assistant Mr Magoo would have done a better job.

Replay Replay Replay -

FAI are lodging an official complaint

A statement reads: "Conclusive video evidence of a deliberate hand ball by Thierry Henry, which led to France's additional time goal, has been seen by millions of football fans worldwide... now call on Fifa, as the world governing body for our sport, to organise for this match to be replayed.

Fat chance of a replay if Platini and Blatter exert their influence. Even the French press are disgusted and ashamed, but think of the precedent that would be set if the French were forced into a replay. The French FA should offer a replay.
England had to endure that bloated, drug taking, foul mouthed cheat of an Argy with his "hand of God", not that I`m still bitter of course.
Moral superiority doesn`t make up for the disappointment the Irish are feeling. A video replay would have worked in this instance as the ball had gone dead and not held up play, Sky News timed the difference between a video decision and the French celebrations, both took 97 seconds.

Never going to happen because of the names Arcadian mentioned, it'd probably be replayed if the boot was on the other foot though.
That or they'd kick the Irish straight out.

I'll bet you loved it didn't you Jimmy, an Arsenal legend with the handball and an Arsenal player with the goal.

I think what must be so hard for the Irish is that the goal in the first game was a deflection and now this.

But just consider the French team (and I know I am biased), take Anelka out and what have they got? In both games he was their best midfielder AND forward.

They must sure hope he stays fit.
