The German Bakery
The German Bakery has a new outlet on Petchkasem Road. If you're coming from the south, it's just before soi 98 or 100 meters before the bus station in a new small development of shophouses. All the baking is done on the new premises which also serves breakfast and light lunches. According to the staff, the main German Bakery at Amnuyasin/SraSong corner will close down next year. Hope the new premises gets brisk business because their bread is amongst the best and reasonably priced in Hua Hin. Hours are 0800-1800.

To be honest I think it's a shame they are moving from what is a prime central site, which everyone knows.
I can maybe understand the attraction of going out South on Petkasem, perhaps with the draw of being nearer to MV. I can understand that the present prime location could be ripe for redevelopment, and maybe the lease isn't being renewed for example.
But if this trend continues HH is going to lose much of it's central farang 'mainstay' shopping, and the great god Tesco has gained a huge foothold by simply being there, and gathering other retail outlets around it.
This maybe sounds over the top and alarmist, but how long will it be before farangs can only find their own produce either in MV or the close vicinity of it? How long before JD and Golden Place for example are forced to move in order to compete?
Satukarn has already gone, and the Mall must be suffering yet another blow from that.
Sorry but I'm seeing this kind of thing happening in my own home town in the UK - due again to the siting of a Tesco - and I don't like it. It can quickly destroy the original heart of a town. Rant over!

A sprout is for life - not just for Christmas.
Yes Mags! They were in such a hurry to throw out the Satukarn Square shops (two of which I visited regularly) months ago and now the lot is still empty with no sign of any new construction.
If they weren't going to start right away, why didn't they leave the legacy shops in place for one more winter season?
Now it's just an eyesore on the main corner in the middle of town!

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
