Charity Event- Italian beachparty in aid of Karen Children

Friday December 18, 2009, Connect3e (charity organisation) will hold a beachfront party with Italian dining and dancing at the Hyatt Regency Hua Hin. Italian Executive Chef Saulo Bacchilega and his team will treat the guests with Italian spices, followed by a barbeque.

Connect3e provides emergency help to Karen refugees. The Karen are unable to live safely in Myanmar (Burma) due to the military junta and the current longest running civil war in the world. Burmese soldiers often (even today) arrive at Karen villages and light them on fire, then with bullet fire in the background many Karen must flee into Thailand and the hope of saftey. Karen families escape into Thailand after days of walking through the jungle. After initial emergency help (rice, medical care, mosquito nets, shoes), Connect3e provides help for the Karen to live a self sufficient life in Thailand.

Children that come from difficult life stories or come over the border without parents, can live at the Home for Students, where they receive sponsorship for their education. Connect3e aims to embrace the Karen as equals, educate them for a more hopeful future and then empower them to help themselves and their own people in the years to come.

Connect3e was founded by Australian Ruth Harrison and her husband Colin. Ruth and Colin are volunteers with the organization and live in Hua Hin with their 5 children, their youngest is an adopted Karen son.

Ticketprice for this event is 1.500 baht. Thanks to sponsorship by Hyatt Regency Hua Hin, 1000 baht, from each ticket, goes to Connect3e.

Mondo Vino (Naeb Kaehat Road) is the winepartner for the event. Wine will be sold for retailprice, with the margin profits going to Connect3e. A range of good wine will be sold on the evening. Winelovers who would like to drink specific wine during the evening, can make reservations at Mondo Vino.
