Tiger Woods: First athelete ever to earn a billion dollars.

Post by hhfarang »

"Forbes, the magazine of choice for those who like to weigh their money rather than count it, brings the news that Woods' $10m cheque for winning the FedEx Cup meant he cracked the 10-figure bracket.

Forbes has been tracking athlete earnings since before Tiger turned pro. Woods had earned a cumulative $895m going into 2009, by our estimates, from prize money, appearance fees, endorsements, bonuses and his golf course design business. If you add his $10.5m in 2009 prize money, the FedEx bonus and his take so far this year from his more than $100m in annual off-the-course earnings, Woods' career earnings are now 10 figures."

Moving comments here rather than dilute the 'HH Golf Gossip' thread further.

All the laundry seems to be hung out now for everyone to see. Done in by a cocktail waitress who in the end couldn't maintain a confidence. Normal I guess when she saw the relationship slipping away to start thinking about possible publicity and money.

Also, he's far from the first man who couldn't control himself in the later stages of a wife's pregnancy. No excuse though. He should have realized that given his status, sooner or later this would come back and bite him.

In hindsight, his game has been off this past year and everyone has been blaming it on his knee surgery. Could have been this issue eating on him mentally and not his knee at all.

He's pulled out of his own tournament and I think the start of his new 2010 season is around January 25.

I'd like to see him come out and bury everyone with the quality of his game and I hope it happens. However I don't think it will at least for the first half of the year. All of this is going to bother him greatly. :( Pete

Although Tiger hasnt won a major, his results are still very impressive, especially in the later half of the season -

Take a look! He is almost always in contention and if he performs then he blows the rest away.

Maybe the title of this thread should now be changed to "Tiger Woods Wife: First athelete's wife ever to get a divorce settlement of a half a billion dollars."

He could be the first sportsman in history to loose a billion dollars (God knows why he needs so much anyway) if he keeps using a wood(ie) to hole birdies!

Tiger Woods - first athlete ever to earn 1billion dollars

Post by margaretcarnes »

It gets worse than Pete's earlier predictions. Tiger Woods has now pulled out of golf for an indefinite period to deal with his personal life. Dropped by sponsers etc. it wouldn't surprise me now if he never plays professionally again.
Many professional sportsmen (and I include sportswomen in that of course) have strayed. Footballers being the most noted - or noticeable. Usually the lengthy absences from home are blamed for indescretions.
If Tiger Woods and other professionals weren't in the public eye no one would give diddly squat about what they do in their private lives. And many of them ride out the storm anyway. Some become idolised even - like George Best. The difference is maybe that Woods still has his Thai roots and feels he has lost face.
A sprout is for life - not just for Christmas.

Everything about him beyond the golf course is a marketing/PR confection.
What he does on the course is all that should matter but of course it isn't.
Pretty well everybody who lives a life of privilege with tons of money, surrounded by flunkies and toadies who never say, "No", does the same stuff.
Relieves the stress, you know.
Christ, even the charisma-challenged John Major was dipping his wick. Mind you Edwina Currie would require courage of a high order and the lights out.
Maybe Tiger's Thai side was in control: it's not love, its just a fcuk, next.
How many would do the same given his assets and opportunities? 99.9%

If I had his money I woudn't get married in the first place. I would be a playboy shagging my way around the world. Why get married and have to give over half of it away in the first place...?

Get married when your older and the old dinkle is a bit worse for wear.

Anyway its a boring story about a boring bloke playing a boring sport so who really gives a shite.

His ex is now rubbing her hands together thinking about all that alamony and to boot she gets to get rid of that stupid little kid she was married too. Its win win for her.

I have no sympathy for him at all. He needs to grow a chin.. :guns:

I like the guy for his performance on a golf course and thats all. He entertains me period. Applies to sportsmen, rock stars, politicians etc. Their private lives dont matter to me.

How many of us have not got skeletons in the cupboard? I have 4 cupboards (could write a book. Oh, but I am) but who gives a shite. If I was famous sure it would hit the headlines but at the end of the day who cares? I dont!!

Indiscretions, corruption and all similar evils go back eons and we all have faults and weak moments. So let live and allow these guys to entertain us and make us happy.

Life is to short to bitch about things. Enjoy

I count my blessings that I have lived life to the full and wake in the morning to face another day, a new challenge and who gives a sh*t about what happened yesterday. It is history

LIVE FOR TODAY AND TOMORROW and forget the past
