Car transporter?

Post by a10ams »

Sometime in the next few months I would like to move a car from Hua Hin to Sakhon Nakon by car transporter. Around 900km I guess.

Any ideas on anybody who does this?

Thanks.

The only car transporters I've ever seen are the western style 3-4 on top and bottom working out of the car factories on the Eastern Seaboard. Don't know if an independent company or part of the car manufacturer's stock. I've also seen the odd single car on the back of an over size pick up truck with no side walls, but I think they only transport accident vehicles this way when they can't be driven.

This could be a tough one and perhaps easier to drive it or find a trusted person you can pay to drive it there. Pete

I tried to do this a couple of years ago, without success. From what I could find out the car carriers that can be seen on the road, are operated by a couple of the major trucking companies that contract to the car distributors.

They will do a run with a full load, dropping off some cars to different dealers along the way. They either have no concept of "back-loading", or it is just not worth the time and effort involved. I even went so far as to have my Lawyer look into it, but no success. You could try asking at one of the big dealerships how they get their new cars delivered, maybe things have changed by now.

I ended up doing it myself and getting the train back!
