spitfire wrote:I think it's quite simple why the girls like the English man most, no offence to the Scotts or Welsh, but it's because of the Premiership football, it's the home of the English language that they are told is so important these days by their Thai teachers when young and the fact that King Rama V went to school in Oxford. He brought so many ideas back here which can still be seen everywhere if you bother to cast an inquisitive eye around you, everything from the pomp and pagantry of the palace guards in red with big black bear skin hats to the traffic lights and driving on the left side of the road. All can be traced back to the famous king and the fact that he liked it in Oxford. Look at almost all the pictures of him and he appears like an English country gent with a tash.

There are certainly "good" countries and "bad" countries in Europe to originate from in their eyes.

Probably more to it that others can add but I rest my case along these lines.

So really they all want an Oxford man.... I have always been proud of my roots and the fact we speak the Queens English now I know it'll get me some Issan crumpet I'm happier.

I've recently married my fourth Toyota.
They are cheap to run and very reliable.
The Isaan models are the opposite and YMMV.

Yes, and Black Label gave me a headache after two beers. What a hangover.
Also my girl friend says she loves me. I ask why you love me? She's says your money. I tell her I love you because I thought you had money. We're both in trouble.

yes well the reason there are more brits in Thailand is casue there are more desperados in Britain and the silly backward issan girls never looked on a map to see where good old England is located to realize its frozen most of the year  .
I dout they would know the difference between a kraut and a pom...actually the might the kraut's better dressed :) and stands to attention whenever some one in uniform walks past.
Anyone that is even remotely pale is British or German and wealthy in there eyes and as for one of the forum members claiming that brits speak the queens English.....what a lot of pork poo most poms have an accent that resembles a barvarian hit man....ive never heard the queen sound like a Gordie or west Londoner :P
Its always amused me when i see badly dressed poms here..what the**** do these girls see in em  and that noise when they open there mouths :P

And the Brits don't use the term you use for the Germanic race, it's just not done now old chap. Image

And I know many "stupid Issan girls" who would seem to have a better grasp of the "Queens English" than you and have acquired a first rate education. Image

And most educated Australians have long ago given up using the word "Pom" the World has moved on from the £10 trippers and that word is old hat. Image

And the word NO is pronounced no, not NAAAOoorrrooooooooohh. Image

And
And
And ad nauseum.
I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.

Of course Thai women prefer foreign men... I've heard many in the last few weeks say about Tiger Woods... "Typical Thai man!" :D
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Yeah, not to mention that having a foreign husband generally means not having the crap kicked out of you on a regular basis.

Oh, and yeah, having a half decent standard of living.

BTW, quite a rant BR2120, and before you start laying it down, don't forget that you fellows in Oz were selected by the finest judges in England.

Yes there are plenty of educated Aussies out there.

My brother in law and his two children are cases in point but then they have spent a lot of time abroad.

Let's not knock all Australians please. :thumb:

Well 2120, she is your queen too. By now perhaps you have realised that we Brits can take the p`ss out of ourselves, but get a tad annoyed when foreigners try, especially ill~educated colonials such as yourself.

"Most single Isaan women want a Western husband"

Is this serious???

Maybe its through boredom or whatever else has raised this topic, I find it self assuring and insecure.

You met your wife in a bar and you know she wants you for your money, get over it, if your happy that should be all that matters.

Perhaps to add some balance here, it is also noticable how many Thai women, single or otherwise, that want nothing to do with foreign men, whether it's Isaan or elsewhere. There is a price to be paid for marrying a foreign man, socially/culturally. There are, however, many benefits for those that do.

When you look at how the culture/society treats many of these women then it's hardly surprising they would like to find a way out, who would blame them? If they find love along the way then so much the better. The intransigence and indifference of the culture in many areas such as this is it's own worse enemy and will probably, in the end, bring about the very thing it is trying to prevent, change.

I guess I agree in part about comment "ok you met your girl in a bar ......" but in fairness, that doesnt prevent a good thing happening
