^True, but they are force-fed all the BS through the TV/magazines etc and are continually talked down whilst they are growing up by the family and extended family to be insecure and compliant so that they will fit in with Thai culture in the future and serve as a near concubine for the pathetic Thai guy that is supposed to dominate their lives while he screws around and consumes money and all else, the typical crap.
It's hard to free their minds after 25 odd years of social conditioning and subjugation from a male dominated society. Unfortunately, many are weak willed and lack self confidence, mainly due to the fact that haven't been properly encouraged to achieve or have self-worth during their formative years.
I suppose it depends on how old the woman is as there must be great differences in age betwween members partners. The younger ones are obviously going to be more susceptable.
This, however, does not apply to all, there are of course exceptions and I suppose the above comment could be construed as a generality, which I am aware is not always the best thing to forward as this can be an individual thing. You do hear the stories though.
BTW, going under the knife is just insecurity and I always want to ask these girls "Why?" It's not the girl paying for it, it's a "sponsor", so that means that.........well........all kinds of negative things, bit of a red flag IMO as they must be the brain washed 'follower of fashion' type which can be a dangerous thing as it could also apply to many other "areas". I mean.....if the girl is paying for it herself then it's to attract a partner or "business", if you've already got a partner and then want to do it and have him pay for it........then does it mean you want to be admired by other men even though you're in a relationship or married or is it a paranoid thing to keep your husband interested in you and not to stray, which infers insecurity/shallowness etc, all kinds of possible answers. If it's your husband that wants it then he's trying to change you into something you are not, just seem really weird to me and the motovations for doing it from either side just leave me confused about many things. I reckon that no good will come from it for the guy or the girl.
My apologies to any out there that have allowed it, no offence, each to their own, just doesn't 'float my boat' because it opens 'a whole can of new worms' , so to speak, just be honest.
However, anyone with experience, feel free to set me right as I'm always open to feeback as I'm no psychologist.
