Know what you mean Randy.
However i must confess to being guilty of that myself.
Started a few threads after a couple of Singhas.
Bloody funny,
if i say so myself.
But the first reply you get back is from someone that you offend.
What do you do?
I love debate.
I also love taking the P.
And constructive funny p taking out of myself is ok.

I personaly just call it quits.
Last thing i can be bothered with is an argument.

Know this has nothing to do with the original posting, but we've all heard some stories/excuses over the years about Thai GF's,wives and some of the stories they hatch to get money sent (e.g. sick buffalo for starters)here's another! An English woman staying at Jings told me her husband of 30 odd years upped and left her for a Thai girl while on holiday, divorcing her and getting engaged to his 'loved one' in LOS.While back in the U.K. working she phoned him to say she needed money sending for treatment ...as she had been diagnosed with breast cancer!Obviously he sent her the money and visited when he could and then heard nothing over a period of time.He eventually managed to talk to one of her cousins who passed on the sad news that she had died.He was devastated of course, but not half as much as when one of his friends spotted her a few months later arm in arm with a new farang walking down the main street! How lows that?Any other stories that can stoop that low out there?

Don't think anyone could match that one, although some of the stories i get from my mates in Pattaya come close.
I've known my wife since December 28, 2003, and after a few experimental years settled down with her March 20, 2007. She's a cracking lass and hates seeing any farangs getting ripped off, to the stage that she will argue with the local traders as to why they do it. She rarely asks for money although i regularly deposit money in her personal account, and never had the sick buffalo routines, etc., all-in-all probably found one of the gems out there...

I actually believe there are a lot more gems than bad uns. Unfortunately writing about the good bits is quite rare.

Experiences of being married to a Thai?

Hmmmmm.............suppose the answer is "mixed", like it would be with most women from anywhere, but mostly on the positive side or wouldn't still be married to her. If you both can bridge to the culture divide and get past any unrealistic family expectations then should be OK.

Agree with BB, there are a lot of gems to be found, but there are also a good proportion of walking nightmares around too.

A good general rule of thumb is, the younger and more beautiful a girl is the more of a pain in the ass she's probably going to be. These types are also often under a lot of pressure from the sidelines due to various reasons/people. There will of course be exceptions to this but they are few and far between.

It's strange how many foreigners lose there marbles after taking a 12 hour plane flight. Many eastern women keep their options open, hence so many have proplems with faithfulness, as a sort of insurance policy or just to satisfy their avarice due the desire to gain face back where they come from after being beaten down for so long by the system.

It is wise to look long and hard before getting properly involved, there's no hurry. Best to be with a girl for years here before even thinking of getting married, lots of trap doors, some you wouldn't even imagine.

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

From my experience asian women expect commitment and the relationship to be moving to wards marriage with in a much shorter time than a western woman so im surprised by spitfire's comment.
So if your ready to settle down an asian girl is a good bet to be available too.
being married to a Thai is certainly different... and at the end of the day if it doesn't work move on....there is always some one better ready to come in.

A Taiwanese woman told me that marriage wasn't about love for them. Love can come later if things go well. I think its a fairly general rule in east asia: you provide, she take care.

Thats a classic - sorry I didn't spot it earlier. The worm turned - and that's low? After walking out on 30 years of marriage like that the guy deserved it IMO. Why is it more acceptable for a Thai lady to pull the sick buffalo routine? Just curious...

It seems Thai wives are a disposable commodity too!

Could be that for every falang who got bilked by a bargirl/wife there's a Thai woman who married a nasty drunk who couldn't keep his pants up.
