So what is going on around here and where does it happen? This section is for discussion on local events, festivals, and holidays as well as activities and things to do.
You can do it all by phone which we've found the easiest. You then go to your bank ATM and transfer the costs within 5 hours of booking. If you have a Major Cineplex in HH you can book and buy there also.

Thanks Pete. I was at Impact just last week and did not see any mention of this. I regularly check the Website and have not seen it listed on there either.
Appears to be only the one English program?

I'm not sure but don't think so. It runs for 6 days but has 11 performances. I assume about half are in English? If someone calls that info/booking number easy to find out. We only asked about the 27-28th.
I'm not sure if Thai schools are out for Songkran already in late March but if not, they won't have too many customers during the weekday period. Pete

Yes, the School Holidays start on 26th, in Bangkok at least.
I will try and find out about the English sound track today, as I am in Bangkok and want to buy tickets.

I went to the Thaiticketmajor office in Bangkok this morning and bought two tickets for Saturday 27th. The sales lady was adamant that Saturday is the only day with an English sound track.
Looking at the seat selection there is still a good choice for the Saturday morning show.

Seems odd but maybe so. With a show like that the dialogue is secondary anyway. We didn't pick exact seats but I think in HH, on Saturday. Tickets are being mailed and arrive next week. Pete

We've got tickets for it but it's being hotly debated here at the moment. The red shirts are not announcing their plans and march routes until tomorrow. I really have no desire to get caught up in the middle of it all, but it's also a heart breaker for the daughter if we miss it. Stay tuned. Pete

It is possible to get to Impact Arena entirely on Expressways, and I doubt that the red shirts will affect them very much, if last weekends effort is any indication. You could also get there using the outer ring road. The congestion will be in some streets, and if you need to stay overnight at a Hotel, then I would look at somewhere outside of the city, probably around Swampy Airport / Bangna area.

I have a house in Hua Hin and a Condo in Mung Thong Thani, next door to Impact (can see IMPACT arena when I exit building). No problem with Red Shirts out here. They made one pass through complex before the first day of demonstrations and never seen again. No problem with elevated roads through Bangkok to here. 2.5 - 3 hours travel time and enjoy the show.
There is a nice hotel nearby by the Lakes complex about 1km from IMPACT or TJ Palace off Chang Wattana across from the Big C.
We're going Nereus, in fact today. Come to find the wife has an appointment at Bangkok Hospital this afternoon and we have a dinner with friends Saturday night. Will be at The Davis on soi 24 and I'll PM you later on today or this evening. Pete

This was a real good show! Better than the one last year where it was a Princess theme only. The producers really out did themselves this time concerning story, dancing on ice, props, all of it. Those who have tickets and haven't gone yet, you're in for a good time.
They were announcing something about 2011 as well so am sure they'll be back next March with something even more special for the kids (and grown up's too. ).
Also had the pleasure of meeting Nereus and his cute little granddaughter which added to the good day. Pete

Was there much disruption to the journey once in Bangkok as a result of the red shirts ? Going to the 3pm one tomorrow, Sunday.Cheers,SJ
None that I've seen since being here since 1500 hours Friday. Soi 24 out to Rama IV and onto the expressway no problems at all going this morning. Coming back the same. A few Red Shirts on MC's with flags and a few soldiers at odd intersections and that was it. Back to Soi 24 from Impact in 25 minutes. Most of the 'happenings' are north of Sukhumvit. Near the zoo, race track etc.
I've seen nothing in the news on-line since returning about anything planned for Sunday. They all have to go home for their Songkran parties soon. Have a great time but beware the 80 Baht popcorn, 250 baht programs, 450 baht hats, 650 baht magic wands etc. Pete

Just to confirm that which Pete has written, did not spot one of them. Stick to the expressway and you should have no problems. I am back at Rama 4 and no sign of them around here either.
A pleasure to catch up with you and your family, Pete.
