Cajutan - 88-/1 Soi Jamjuree, Petchkasem

Post by dtyolmn »

I've had the pleasure of visiting this restaurant several times over the past three weeks and the food is excellent. It's a nice quiet place just around the corner from Market Village and the Host and Hostess ( Ray & Jeniffer) are very friendly and always inquiring about our satisfaction. Jeniffer's Parents are from Sweden thus the food is Swedish & Thai. Being from America it's my first experiance of Swedish food and it's very delicious. Stop by and give it a try.

Interesting name they use. First glance I though some kind of Cajun food. Caju means the nut of a cashew in Portugese. Pete

Cajutan is actually a Swedish name for a kitchen on board a sailing ship although it is originally spelled Kajutan. Hence it has nothing to do with Cajun food.

Cajun comes from the Arcadians who lived in the southern US and also around the Gulf of St Lawrence, Canada.

Cajun food is great, if you can find the real thing. :D
I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.

My usual question: Are they open for lunch or does anyone have contact info so I can check for myself.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

They have a web site http://cajutan.com/ with contact info at the bottom so I can call them. The hours may be on the page but I can't read Swedish so I couldn't tell... :?

Duh! They have the page in many languages as shown by the flags at the top. After looking at the English translated page I found this...
We are open from 12:00 to 23:00 every day.
I will give it a try this week...

OK, sorry, slow to get back with a report. I tried it that week and again this week and it is an absolutely fantastic restaurant! This is the main thing I like about Hua Hin. There are so many hidden jems of places to eat like this.

The food, service, even the restroom is extraordinary. Their menu has photos and when you get your meal it looks exactly like the photo on the menu (unlike many places here) and the food is delicious.

I went a few days ago and the owners were not there, but it did not matter. They have found a Thai staff that runs the place impeccably. I went again today (for lunch) and met the owners who are wonderful and made sure we were happy and satisfied with our meal.

I give this place a 5 star recommendation... even their toilet, bathroom, loo or whatever you call it in your country is impressive. I felt like I was eating a meal in a friends home. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

You know BaaBaa, your posts are exactly like your complaints about FOX news. You take snippets out of context instead of taking the entire story into consideration... :P

Back to topics!

Yes, Cajutan is indeed a good restaurant but if you want to dine there on a Saturday evening you had better reserve a table at least a day before.

The owners, a Swedish couple, have many years of experience in the restaurant trade from their home country.

I've been there again now and it's one of the best hidden out of the way type restaurants in Hua Hin. This time I met the owners and they are as charming as their restaurants ambiance and food! This place is not to be missed!
But you love FOX News!
Yes, BaaBaa, everyone knows I like FOX news, as do 65% of the American viewing public according to news watching polls, but to balance it out I try to spend an equal amount of time watching AL Jazeera... (No lie! I actually think it's a good straight news channel where FOX is mostly opinion). :thumb:
