Temporary Driving License

Post by ladybiker »

Hello all,

A year ago we obtained both motorbike and car temporary licences, my question is, what documents do we need to renew these, for instance do we need another health check.

Also can anyone tell me if the transport office is still in the same place in Pranburi?

Cheers

I got a 1 year car license when I first came... renewed to a 5 year license with no tests except the eye, depth perception, and reflex tests... still in the same location in Pranburi.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Be aware that you can not obtain a 5 year licence until your temporary licence has expired. There does not appear to be any set time limit after it expires, and the 5 years starts from your next Birthday. So if you have a birthday coming up just wait until after that date, which will then really give you nearly 6 years.

In Bangkok at least, you will need a new Medical Certificate, and proof of address, not sure about Pranburi.

But you need a health check from a doctor. Polyclinic Hua Hin made it for 70 Baht. And I needed a certificate of residence from the immgration office. Perhaps the police office makes it too.
No photo is needed, because they make it directly onto the license.

... and opposite 7/11 in Pranburi at the main traffic lights, they do it for 30 baht. Get there early at around 8 a.m. and then go straight to the driving licence department, which opens at 8.30
