Thailand Corruption Watch

Post by PeteC »

This thread is long overdue. A single place to list articles and stories about corruption in Thailand so those forum readers outside the country can really see the extent of the disease here.

I'll try to keep it updated on a regular basis as I find things but everyone please contribute if you come across an article, or have a personal experience to relate. Pete

Police tea money

Post by Governor »

Tea money is such a quaint term, I wish they would use the proper term - Extortion, and it's not restricted to traffic police.

Whilst accepting that there is corruption here in Thailand  I do hope that in the interests of balance and fair play (a strange term to use in this thread :P ) that there will also be threads regarding corruption in the UK and USA :guns:

Mind you, I hope I'm not wasting my time as I can't really think of any examples in the UK or USA

A fair point and whilst I am sure there are examples of corruption in the UK and US, as well as other Western countries, this is a forum about Thailand - isn't it?

Geeze we're walking on egg shells here aren't we? The subject is well covered and criticized more in the Thai and English Press than we're doing on here. I can't find once in any comment or link where the Royal Family is mentioned even in a remote way. Pete

As i see it LM doesn't have to be connected to them but talking about government thing in a criticising way . And also a case of defamation can be made against anyone even if what you said was true.

I don't agree with that interpretation at all Nevets. However, I'll leave it to Admin to decide. See below link and scan down to the 'Thailand' section. Pete
