I presume that I am not the only expat in Hua Hin suffering from occassional strong pain of gout. I take medicine daily to avoid attacks but I still manage to get them occasionally. Some 1800 mg of Brufen or Ibobrufen normally kills the pain rapidly, but I can no longer take Opiod or NSAID pain killers due to other conditions.
Does anyone know of a natural remedy that might kill the pain in the toe joint? Any Chinese hokus-pokus out there?
I cannot kick ass at the moment, my toe just hurts like h....
(Yes, I am painfully aware of all the delicious foods and intoxicating liquids that I shall avoid)
You need to PM MrPlum. You said you know what to avoid but in case your are misinformed it's mostly red meat, red wine, and anything deep fried...
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
We also need to think/feel we're young again and do the 5K daily walk, the 500m swim or the 9-18 holes walking instead of in a cart, or the 2-3 puying daily marathon.
No pain no gain. The fast food lobby killed JFK's Presidential Fitness Program HHF, and you know what I'm talking about.
I don't have gout, worse...they don't know what to call it. Pete

I used to have some problems with gout, enough that the doctor threatened medication.
I did some research, and ended up starting to take Korean Red Ginseng daily. Since then I have had no problems. I can't refind my research, but it was specific on Korean Red, not any of the other ginsengs.
I've told friends and it seems to work for most of them.

Yes they do - it's all part of 'Old Age' We're all getting there.
I'm not sure? My joints click going up the stairs to the extent my daughter says I'm trying to be musical. My middle appendage seems to be getting closer to the floor but the wife says I'm shrinking rather than that growing. I contemplate meaningful things now instead of just sex. I eat raw garlic and feel physically and mentally content. I've put NFL decals all over my car. I awake at 0300 in the morning. Pete

That'll only do you any good if you crush it or slice it up finely. Garlic only produces allicin, which the benefitial compound and the reason for taking garlic, when it is crushed or sliced up. It's rather like a tomato only produces lycopene when mashed up or crushed, isn't present in the whole vegetable. Cooking tends to make allicin breakdown and reduces it's potency and microwaves destroy it completely. Best thing to do is to add it raw, after crushing or slicing, to food shortly before serving.
No, Migrant maybe can comment on this. I do it the Korean way. Peel it, slice it in half, 3 chomps of each piece and wash down with water. Walk around repelling all insects and people for 2 hours. Pete

I'm sure you are aware that Gout is caused by high Uric Acid levals in the blood and you must lower these levals for long term relief.
Diet plays an important part in maintaining a low leval but you need medication to get to a lower leval in the first place.
I take Allopurinal 300 mg tablets for 2 months every year and can't remember my last attack.
The tablets are available at most Chemists in HuaHin.
Best of luck.

Perfect!!
That's why Koreans feed kim chi to the kids, to find them in the dark!!
Off topic, but now that I think of it, I don't know any Korean restaurants in Hua Hin
I suffer too, stay away from food stalls that sell soups or add large quantity of MSG (charote in thai) it always flares my gout up no end,
many stalls around sell rosselle juice its a red juice, good for lowering uric acid in the blood, or you can buy the red fruit in the market and boil it up yourself.
