NEW JAZZ BAR IN HUA HIN

Post by Lung Per »

Hua Hin has a new open-air restaurant featuring live jazz every Wednesday evening. The name is Loulou's Place, run by a Frenchman, and serving kebabs in the daytime. An excellent Thai band is on the scene (you may know the band from afternoons at the Market Village), and expat and tourist musicians join the fun during the evening.
Loulou's Place is located in the new shopping complex next to the 7/11 near the RR station.

This is a public service statement from a jazz afficionado. I have no commercial, finalcial or other interest in the said establishment.

May I wish this new bar every success. Apart from the annual festival, the Hua Hin jazz fan has to stay at home most nights if he/she wishes to listen to any decent jazz. I will certainly look in for a glass or two on my next visit. I assume that there will be jazz on record/CD on the evenings when the live group are not playing?

Recorded music when no live bands? I dunno. Go ask Loulou If he is not behind the bar, he plays the drums.

"Decent Jazz" is of course a matter of taste and preference. You will find a variety of both good and less attractive performances on Monday nights at Ray's Place (the organizer of the Jazz Train excursions, next on March 17).
Also, there is a great Bar in Cha-Am, the Baan Chang, run by a professional Norwegian musician and entertainer, Nisser. There are often excellent jam sessions and great entertainment on Sunday nights.
