First HH Visit - Looking to Play Pool
First HH Visit - Looking to Play Pool
I live in Chiang Mai and am making my first visit to HH this week for 7-14 days.
Among other things, I would like to find some folks to play some pool and perhaps give me some local tips on other activities.
I don't play real good. Just an old man who likes to hit the balls around and I don't gamble on pool.
Anyone interested??
Thanks

Re: Second HH Visit - Looking to Play Pool
Just like me really. Apart from the fact I don't live in Chaing Mai, and it will be my second visit, and I won't be arriving in 7 - 14 days time, [17 days actually].GADawg wrote:I live in Chiang Mai and am making my first visit to HH this week for 7-14 days.

Now this is really like me - In my 60's but most definitely not old and I like playing pool. When I hear the lines, "I don't play real good & I don't gamble on pool". I know immediately that this guy can whip me at this game and for him it isn't a gamble, it's a cast iron certainty he's going take your money.GADawg wrote:...find some folks to play some pool...

So no offence GADawg, I would have liked to 'hit a few balls' with you but our dates don't coincide.
Anyway, a warm welcome to the forum.

It may be rubbish - but by golly it's British rubbish.
Re: First HH Visit - Looking to Play Pool
GADawg, welcome to the forum. You'll always find plenty of people willing to play pool with you in Hua Hin - it's one thing that seems to be universal there. You don't have to be good, and so long as you don't go in to a bar on a Pool Match night, you'll always find plenty of bars with an empty pool table, and have plenty of opportunity to play/make new friends.
I've never seen anybody playing for money, although it probably goes on.

Re: First HH Visit - Looking to Play Pool
If Chiang Mai is still what it was a few years ago (poolwise), you'll be spoiled by the chances of playing pool on good tables and there's always someone willing to pay with you. Like in Chiang Mai, Hua Hin pool tables are mostly free of charge, as well. Have fun.

What's most common in the bars, pool or snooker tables? If you're good at one, you won't be on the other from what I've found. Pete

There is a pool room in CM that has been open for about a year that has 8 good 9ft pool tables. Expensive to play but good conditions.Bamboo Grove wrote:If Chiang Mai is still what it was a few years ago (poolwise), you'll be spoiled by the chances of playing pool on good tables and there's always someone willing to pay with you. The tables in the bars here are not very good , to say the least, so I tend not to play there much.

No offence taken, but when I say "I don't gamble", i mean it. I don't bet money on pool.HuntingTigers wrote:Just like me really. Pool in HH Pete. Snooker tables difficult to find - unlike your side of the Pond. A couple of Thai clubs maybe, which is a shame IMO as I think you're right about playing one or the other.
But that said there are some good pool tables around in HH - it's been popular there for years.
