Anyone know how I get a Thai International Driving Licence ?

Those are usually only good in any country other than the issuing one, so I assume you want it because you are traveling outside Thailand...

The problem is that because you now have to renew UK licence every 10 years mine will be out of date when I return.
that means that I cannot hire a car as I usually do on arrival.
But I can hire with a Thai DL as long as I have a Thai IDP

I found (5 years ago) that I could hire a car in the U.S. with only my Thai DL, but was forced to take out the full insurance coverage which tripled the daily cost of the car!

If you apply for a Thai driving licence you will get it for 1 year first. The next time you renew it you will get it, if you want, for 5 years. After these 5 years you can apply for an international Thai driving licence.

5 years, that can't be right. A regular ruse by Thai ladies in the UK who can't hack the UK driving test is to buy a Thai driving licence/International licence while on holiday in Thailand.
