CHUMPHON to HUA HIN

Post by HuntingTigers »

Well the first part of the journey Hua Hin to Chumphon was no problem as many people disembarked at HH railway station so there was plenty of available train seating.

However I haven't struck so lucky on the return. The only suitable train from Chumphon to HH on a Saturday, 17th April, is full. I've managed to book a bus ticket to Pranburi through the FAME travel agency / bar / restaurant [Saladeang Road, 10 min walk from railway station]. That has cost me THB 400 including Fame's commission.

When I reach Pranburi I was told to catch a songthaew to HH. Has any forum member an idea of what the price will roughly be? Does one share these things or what? Do they drop you at your destination, in my case Jings, or at the bus station?

Any help much appreciated, HT.
It may be rubbish - but by golly it's British rubbish.

Could be wrong but I think there's a regular bus service (small orange or green coloured ) from Pranburi to HH.

Bit late but you could have got the lomprayah bus right into HH. Public bus is pretty cheap but a ST type taxi will probably be 250-300 baht from Pranburi town.

Yep, the rickety old orange ones are (Supposedly) every 20-30 minutes.

I sometimes jump on one into town from Takiab. :thumb:

I usually pay around 200b for a 1st class air-con going to BKK from Chumpon and get off at Pranburi (bus heads off on by-pass/skirts HH).
From next to the lights in the centre of town you've a choice of the little
'Orange-crush' buses or the Pran-tour BKK bus..each fare is about 35-45b
The O-C bus can be fun cos all doors and windows are open so you get to HH all windswept & interesting...ha!

The orange public buses from Pranburi to HH leave every 30 minutes until about 5-5.30pm. Takes around 45 mins and the fare is 20THB.
The songthaews don't go further south than Khao Takiab, so that's a non starter.
As said, there's a possibility of getting a blue bus, but they're likely to be full after this 3 day long holiday and the weekend coming up (you might be able to stand in the aisle) or you'll be able to get someone to taxi you into HH. Not sure of the cost for that, but 200-300THB would be a good deal. I'd expect to pay more.
