Cesc Fabregas is understood to have told Arsene Wenger he wants to leave Arsenal in order to rejoin Barcelona as president Joan Laporta hints at making a bid.

Writing in Spanish newspaper AS, Guillem Balague has revealed that Fabregas has flown in to London from Barcelona to discuss his future at Emirates Stadium with Wenger.

Fabregas recently revealed that he does want to play for former club Barca one day and is keen for his future to be resolved before representing Spain at the World Cup finals.

It now appears that the midfielder is ready to ask for permission to join the newly-crowned Primera Liga champions next season and a fee is likely to be in the region of £30-35million.

Meanwhile, Barcelona president Laporta has suggested it may be the right time to bid for the 23-year-old following Fabregas' comments at a promotional event last week.

The Arsenal captain, who was plucked from Barca's youth ranks in 2003, had said, 'I think I would like to go to Barcelona, whether or not they want me is another thing'.

Laporta was surprised by Fabregas' frankness and reckons it is worth considering a move for the influential midfielder.

"It is remarkable that the player has said that," he told the club's official website.

"If the technical secretary [Txiki Begiristain] believes we must make an effort, we will do and will talk to Arsenal."

Villa talks
Laporta also confirmed transfer talks were well underway with Valencia over a deal to bring striker David Villa to Camp Nou.

"We are in the negotiating process and everything is going in the right direction," Laporta added.

"We hope it is resolved soon. Everything is on track and hopefully we can reach an agreement."

I`m not saying Fabregas won`t be missed but Arsenal did win all their games when he was out injured. Barcelona should now put their money where their persistant mouth is and offer the right price, also how does this sit with Uefa`s financial controls if they buy Fabregas and Villa plus whoever else for multi millions of euros. Where is Platini when you need him?

UEFA and Platini won't care, Barca aren't English. :|

More Barca targets
Barcelona are preparing to launch a £70m bid for Liverpool's Fernando Torres after signing David Villa, his strike partner in Spain's national side, from Valencia.

i expect the fabregas saga will roll on for a while yet . . . .

i'm sure he would want to return to barca at some stage being that it's his hometown club.
at the present time though, as good as he is, he would be warming the bench on a regular basis imo :|

on things for sure, with over 4 years left on his contract, we hold all the aces in any deal & he won't be going on the cheap, even if he wants to, that's a certainty
i have insider info that nothing less than £50 million would even be listened too or possibly toure + £40 mil.

fabregas will not submit a transfer request due to contractual matters (yep, money  ) & i doubt barca will be offering the asking price should wenger decide to cash in.

apparently barca are £400 million in the red

& the ruling on the financial controls has been agreed by all the FA's & will possibly come into affect in 2012.
for the sake of football as a sport, it can't come soon enough :|

Please refer to the top of the thread BG. NO bullshit by bitter tossers like David Maddock, no quotes, no substance=idiots making up storys.

The story by Maddock suggests Torres want's to leave because he's fallen out with Benitez, 2 weeks ago the man himself said Benitez has improved him and the main reason he came to Liverpool is Rafa.

Maddock knows best though, he USED to be an Anfield insider, Prick.

He must be (overly) confident in his own ability.

It's ridiculous when a team's too good to make way for Fabregas.

I think they'll shift Iniesta wide a bit.

I don't see where the creativity is going to come from though. Fabregas, Iniesta, Xavi, Villa, Messi. Image

Just storys with actual quotes or a bit of substance otherwise we'd have every player in world football going to City and Torres playing for 3 different clubs.

Sorry for the outburst but I despise David Maddock and another Journo called Phil Thomas.

Aston Villa have turned down a £20million bid from Manchester City for midfielder James Milner.

It's silly season again.

Chamakh will be welcomed as a complement to van Persie. Hope Arsenal sells Eduardo has he is no longer delivering.
