Change Door and Windows

Post by Gunnar »

Hi

I want to change all the doors and windows (to a better quality) in my house.
I need doors and windows with a better locking system.

Anybody know where to go in Hua Hin?

Thanks for your advice.

:)

What type of doors are you looking for; wood, PVC, aluminum or other and are you talking about entry doors or interior doors?
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Hi

I am looking for aluminum doors.
I do have 3 sets of double sliding doors (see picture) that are of a not so very good quality (shilly-shally).

The same goes for all the windows.
Same quality and a bit shilly-shally.

The locking system for the doors and the windows are also very poor.

Thanks for update

Gunnar did you have any luck with the windows.

I am in the same situation. Quality of what I have is OK, the traditional teak that annoyingly open out but small and no provision for mozzie screen.

Would like to change if not all a lot to quality alluminum sliders or opening but with screens.

Further my post above, the windows do not have to be aluminum but of high quality.

Maybe you should try this company.
They are located in Bangkok, but will make the trip to HH when you contact them.
They can make mossie-nets and sliding security bars + the window.

Take a look at Hua Hin Glass

Just had 5 sets of opening windows + bi directional opening front door on a new bungalow at the lodge. PVC coated Aluminium frames with mosquito netting. Was not cheap but quality is first class and good locking mechanisms too.

Norseman, thanks Mate, did look at the site, not exactly what I want but will keep in the burner.

Terry, will ring you in the am. You are on my list to visit and introduce my self anyway so a look at the new window would give me direction.

When I lived in Queensland in Australia, we had fly net doors with mesh to stop insects. The front and back doors were a securty type of door which had good locks. Do you know if they can be bought in Thailand? They are really great in a hot climate.

Take a look at the below thread Siani. In one pic you'll see a back inner door with a dark metal frame with insect netting. You can get these made all over Thailand from companies who make security window grills/doors. They can make sizes to fit any size door, even the large double door type. They have sliding security bolts in and out and hasps to affix your own pad lock. Pete

Great thanks. Had a look at the pics, look good. yes the mesh is very important. In Australia it was more flies than anything that were annoying. But the doors were great. The french shutter system is great too. They just roll down and lock from the inside. I do think that if someone is determined to get in the property though, they will. Once theives break these doors etc the cost of repairing them would probably be really expensive. I do like them though, would reccomend them. Another tip for security... Build secret cupboards in the house, also a false wall is good! Don't laugh, its true! Hide all your valuables in it. When we took a holiday in Cannes, we rented a villa. It had a vistors book which said quite a few time.."Lovely holiday, shame we go burgled" etc. The owner had a huge mirror put on the wall...behind it was a recess which was secret..marvelous idea. The mirror just opened like a door, but to other people it just looked like a flat mirror. Anyway thanks! :)
