2012 Olympics

Post by PeteC »

Have they started selling tickets for the different events yet? More importantly, are any of you UK and EU residents planning to attend any of it? Pete

Going to travel down and watch the sailing but don't know about tickets and prices for other events.

Going on a private boat, so no entry fee.
I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.

When you think about it, it's really a once in a lifetime opportunity to have it right in your backyard. I hope people take advantage of that fact. I happened to be in Korea on business during the 1988 games and Hyundai supplied tickets to some events. The atmosphere was electric everywhere you went and a very enjoyable experience. Pete

Is the sailing is going to be in Portland harbour?
If so I'll go down there if I'm still working in Somerset as I'm not far away.

Yes, the new sailing academy has just been finished there.

 Maybe we could meet up for a beer or glass of wine Steve.

Certainly Don, if I'm still in the UK, it all depends on the work situation.

Good point - the Olympics will be post SDR. I doubt there'll be much work left in the Defence Industry.
Championship Plymouth Argyle 1 - 2 Leeds Utd

Points 46; Position 23 RELEGATED

Is my Weymouth Blog, but I am leaving for Thailand! will still be running blog though

For any of the events you should register now for tickets, once you get to the site, you can choose all the sports you are interested in. As someone correctly said, tickets will go on sale in 2011, but priority will be given to those registered.

So if you are even only just thinking about it, it is best to register.

If you do get a ticket for any Olympic event in London, that also gives you free underground/bus transport around the capital for the day of the event.

Those in the UK will have to keep us updated on the budget cutting steps they take. I hope they don't 'nickle and dime' things saving little, and giving a cheap appearance that will be remembered by all. It's best to simply not build something, like quarters, and put athletes up in existing buildings instead. Maybe too late for that? This should be a display of Britain's strength, not part of an austerity drive. Although, austerity is forward thinking for many nations these days. Tough call. Pete

They will grasp at any straw, won't they. Talk about nonsense. Let's all look at clouds today and see what we can make out of them. Pete
