An equally great performance from Torisidis against Nigeria. I believe he will be offered a a part in a Bollywood production planned for post World Cup later this year called "why greek men wear dresses".

This clever tilting pitch has been suggested as one way for an English speaking team could tip the game in their favour and win the world cup

For those of you who remember Roy Of the Rovers, England would have played uphill in the first half, but Johnny Foreigner would tilt the pitch at half time. England would have won though by the odd goal scored by Roy in the 90th minute.

If I was this coach I'd simply sail away into the sunset directly from Capetown! Pete

What's we've seen so far could well be a result of western EU and the UK not really taking national team football seriously. The troops are too tied up for months before the fact earning their millions and getting their cups, FA, PL, Champions...so many...take your pick.

So, when World Cup time rolls around every four years, no big deal. We're tired, we're rich, and we don't really work with this coach too much before the event.

Money football may very well be put on it's ass by the 'outsiders' this time around. Good for them if it happens. :thumb: Pete

Quite possibly the most dysfunctional England performance I have seen in the last several years.

Having stopped shouting at the TV at half-time, I started thinking about things and the biggest question has to be, why has it all gone so wrong? Qualifying, we were very good. But the impression coming out of the camp now is that Capello doesn't know:

A) What his best team is
B) How his team should play
C) How to celebrate his birthday (today)

And that is affecting everyone in the camp. Now I know all those non-footie people will say, well they're all paid enough blah, blah, blah. But they need a steer and they ain't got one.

I could go on about the team selection forever as we all could, but whats the point - they're not functioning. Nor is the manager.

But, I'm gonna say this. Rooney is a shadow, don't play him. Lennon simply isn't good enough, Terry should be captain and play the friggin' players where they do best!!!!

Ashley Cole. Now I knew he was a great player at the Arse. Seeing him at the Bridge is a revelation about how really good he is. He is rightly regarded as the best of his type and a World class player. His strengths, apart from his defending are his pace and attacking acumen. So why isn't that used by England?

And I will go on bended knees in front of Capello to plead the case for Joe Cole.

We have one scared team out there and I don't understand why?

I agree with everything you say.

In addition:

- Why Heskey? Defoe has been brilliant for club and country for the last year. Crouch is brilliant against crap teams.

- Johnson was fortunate a few times, and a decent team would have crucified his poor positioning.

That was a disgrace by England.
We were outplayed by Algeria who seemed to be more interested in winning the ball and the game. Hello English midfield - twats.
Meanwhile, England were on the back foot and they're simply not good enough to even get a shot on target all match. Always passing across etc etc.
At least that's the way I saw it.
We're useless and the Algerians deserved the draw.

Thank you!

Strangely, although he'll never score, I thought Heskey worked his socks off out there, but, but but....

Can Defoe and Rooney play together and isn't a bit late to try and find out?

Johnson is lacking confidence and I can't blame him with Lennon in front of him and Carragher inside! But he wasn't good.

Its not looking good, but it hasn't before and we've progressed - take the shackles off, Mr.C!

There was a headline after the USA game saying that the USA won the 1 - 1 draw against England - apparently the Americans don't have drawn matches (Pete?). In that same scenario the Algerians must have been well ahead on points in tonight's game.

A strange scenario awaits us if England draw 2 -2 against Slovenia, and USA draw their game 0 - 0. They will draw lots to see who qualifies for the last 16 :? England can't win a penalty shoot out, so what chance would they have in a lottery?

I mean, think about it.

Cole, Terry, Lamps - thats the left side of Chelsea, they do it week in, week out, against some of the best in the world and tonight I would have thought, having watched them, that they'd not played together before? :(

The missing link? Lamps. I have no idea where he was meant to be playing tonight and seemingly, neither did he?
