Cost of landfill

Post by OscarMike »

Can somebody please advise the cost of land fill for approx half a rai. We would like to raise it about a foot above the road level - how many truck loads would be required and roughly what cost?

Thanks.

My guess would be:-

Assuming your land is level with the road as of now.

Half a Rai = 200 sqm
1 ft raise = 0.4m - This allows for compaction of soil

Volume required = 200 x 0.4 = 80 cu m

Truck will carry say 6 cu m

No of trucks = 80/6 = say 14 rounded up for compaction again

Truck of soil = THB 700 - THB 1000 depending on quality of fill and where you get it from.

So cost would be 14 x 700 >>>>>>> to 14 x 1000

Say THB 10,000 to THB 14,000

You will also need a tractor for leveling say THB 500 - THB 1000 for the day

Hope this helps :thumb:

Errr, I'm pretty sure 1 rai = 1600 m2, so half a rai is 800 m2

200 m2 would be half a ngaan - 4 ngaan = 1 rai

We had some landfill put in out the back of Hua Hin in April and I think it was about 30,000 bt for half a metre over half a rai, but I'll ask my partner tonight as she organized it all.
You can sometimes get it a bit cheaper if you can find someone in the process of digging a waterhole or lake who is keen to get rid of it.

Tragically sir, I think that you are correct

My original guesstimate should therefore be quadrupled :banghead:

one foot = 30cm x 800 = 240 sq met.
one lorry load = 20 sq met.
240 divided by 20 = 12 loads @ 1100 baht =13,200 baht.

Need some mathematicians on this thread me thinks.

As far as I know all depends where you are in proximity to the fill as diesel can come into the equation. Look around your area to see what you can find and ask questions. Someone will make a cut if you cant go direct!

Thanks for the replies, I now have an idea of costs ... although the math was a little confusing!

Does anyone know where most of the fill material comes from around Hua Hin?
When my site was done the contractor seemed a tad evasive when asked. The soil type delivered seems to be the same as delivered to most building sites around the area and differs from the local soils as it has lots of crumbled lime matrerial in it and my guess is it coming from the hills somewhere but I do not recall seeing any big quarries around the place.
Complexity is so simply overrated

In April when we had some land filled, I believe most of it was coming from where they're expanding that holding reservoir (I think that's what it is,) up in the hills past Black Mountain.
Out in the countryside it often comes from the digging of irrigation ponds on farm land.
Basically they'll dig you a free hole with a back-hoe if they can have the soil and they can go down a long way; we have two that're about four meters deep.
