Liverpool FC are delighted to confirm the signing of Christian Poulsen after the midfielder put pen to paper on a three-year deal.

The 30-year-old, who has been capped 77 times by Denmark, arrives from Italian giants Juventus and will wear the No.28 shirt.

Poulsen has previously worked with Roy Hodgson at FC Copenhagen, where he was given his first big break by the current Reds boss.

Real Madrid have completed the signing of Portugal centre-back Ricardo Carvalho from Chelsea in a £6.7m deal. HERE

Could be a big loss this season, probably the best defender in the league for a few years in his time at Chelsea, even if the media did think Ferdinand and Terry were better.

I agree a couple of seasons ago, but Alex is very strong and Ivanovic does well in the centre or at right back, Riccy just isn't 1st choice any more.

Got to confess to some concerns about JT, I worry all the knocks and injuries over the years are beginning to show and he needs Cole to remember he is actually a left back. A few more weeks should see whether he will be okay?

JT is definately slowing up & games seem to be getting quicker, personally i think his days are numbered.
having the heart of a lion doesn't compensate for the legs going :|

as for cole, to much off field nonsense is his problem.
i think young gibbsy coming on the scene could be a good thing for him, maybe the kick of the bottle he needs? :D

Not worried about that story, this is much better news:

We don't have enough flair players, let's hope the Brazilian fits the bill! :thumb:

He's about as Brazilian in playing style as Dirk Kuyt is Dutch. He's a proper dirty b'stard who gets about 4 reds a season. Should fit in well.

Arsenal currently has Denílson, he is OK.

In the past Edu and Gilberto Silva.

Now l did like Gilbo, played for Brazil in the World Cup.

The most famous l can recall and going back a few years is Ossie Ardiles.

But you are correct South Americans have not had comparable success in the Premiership.
They appear to do better in Germany ,with strikers from Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Peru regularly figure among the leading scorers in the German league.

As for Robinho, well best described as a big girls blouse. :neener:

I missed one, probably my favourite after the "Gilbo".
Sylvio Mendes Campos Júnior

Commonly known as Sylvinho, sometimes alternatively spelled Silvinho, a Brazilian footballer.

Played for Barcelona, Celta Vigo and Arsenal. He usually plays on the left as an attacking left back and is known for his overlapping run.

Released by Manchester City to where?.

Great runner at the opposition.
