i have a liking for chicken with basil even though its burning my mouth i cant stop shovelling it in,wheres the best grapow gai intown guys

It's my favourite dish when I can't be bothered to look at the menu, I'm never usually disappointed.

Bam Bams and Moon, Smile and Platoo on Poonsuk both do a good Grapao as does Sabai on soi 116.

Make sure it's Kai Dao. (Egg on top)

Small place opposite the 7/11 in soi 112 does a very good one. Mash an egg with a nice runny yolk into it!

My wife's uncle has a little Thai style restaurant but not in Hua Hin.

Its north along Petchkasem rd at Wat Huay Sai Tai entrance on the near corner.

He speaks Descent English and has an English menu. His prices are reasonable IMHO also.

He and his wife had a restaurant here in Australia (Potts Point/Kings Cross).

Its a bit out of the way for some but I would seriously check it out if in the area, he's a nice guy to talk to also if its not too busy.

Kim's Kitchen does it with lots o chicken and eye-watering (menacing) flavour...same as mentioned in another post here...just gotta keep spoonin' it in,& let the eyes water at will...

is that the guy that collects the teak furniture you are talking about? on the corner at Chom Pol? Yeah their nosh is all pretty good, often eat there.

If you follow Pethkasem rd north about 10kms you get to Huay Sai Tai. There is a PTT petrol station literally next door to it so if you travelling that way look for the petrol station on the left. There is a bit of parking out the front too.

Also, for lunch & breakfast, my wifes cousin makes some seriously mean boat noodles next door at around 15 baht (depending on the order). They dont speak English but have an English menu.

The other place is across from the Naresuan army barracks (bit further north), Saap Illi (sorry about spelling) which is Isaan food...very popular for Thais & make very nice salads, bit spicy though.

Huay Sai Tai is about half way up to Cha-am from Hua Hin.If you mention the talart Isuzu most locals will know where you are heading . The eateries are about a hundred metres or so north from the Isuzu dealership near the corner at Chom Pol Road.

If you are up Cha-am way there is a very basic little eatery down at the beach end of Narathip road. It is just back from the corner on the right hand side.Be prepared for some seriously good bai grapow - 25 Baht. Be warned tho ,this is a no nonsense place for Thai tastes and I have not seen so much chillie in this dish for a long while even with instructions to back off on them.They do great noodle soup too. The deep fried pork cutlets are also yum yum.
And further right up the top of the road nearly at the main junction is the Pig in a Wok( my translation). Does a 99 Baht all you can eat buffet-steamboat sort of affair.Top value as it includes seafood too.
