Name me a top class manager who would be interested in coming to Liverpool,at present ? Certainly no-one of the same calibre of Mourinho,Guardiola,Wenger,Van Gal etc.
I do like Hodgson and theres no denying he did a great job at Fulham but I feel he is just a stop gap appointment to try and stabilise the club....just my opinion.

One thing I do agree with you is that United are very much in the same boat and in a couple of seasons could face a future as uncertain as Liverpools is now (mid-table mediocrity) thats why in my predictions for this season I put Arsenal 3rd and United 4th.....but no doubting City are the ones to watch.

i agree he has come in to steady the ship, he's that type of manager.
he has a really interesting cv when you study it.

of course he will have to wheel & deal a bit & do some restructuring, but
one thing different from his other appointments is that he will start with a quality squad to begin with.
he may well wilt under the pressure but i think he is well suited for this particular task.

A little surprised by Chelsea's new signing? Was he bought in as a 'first-teamer', squad player or as a sign of the new austerity at the club?

I do rate him. From the games I saw, he seemed Liverpools best last season, but thats not really saying much judged on their overall performance.

A good move except for those clubs (well Man C anyway) who seem to be stockpiling players. We will see if those overpaid players who claim to have joined Man C for football reasons, and not for money, will be happy to be not even on the bench, or will they move for less money.

eufa have approved a plan of action whereas each club has to live within it's means.
no more sugar daddies or outside sources will be able to write off debts or pay wages.

they did get a loan recently (£140 million ) to pay summer wages & running costs which puts them in even more debt.

considering how successful they have been over recent seasons. you have to wonder how they got into so much debt & more worryingly (or not! ) they will be able to service that debt, especially as spain is on the brink of recession/financial collapse

i'm pleased but also sceptical about the whole charade
there are differing angles for both the player & the clubs.

there's no doubt that he wanted to go 'home' & i think if barca had made a decent offer, it may well have gone ahead.
to try to get him on the cheap using emotional blackmail was not only an insult to arsenal, but fabregas himself.

I totally agree! It is the same everywhere when a person is looking for a new job, he or she has mentally already left the company and cannot be expected to produce the same as before. It would have been better, I think, to let hem go but having him to top up the deal personally. After all, he has five years left on the contract.

As a substitute we should have made a serious move for Özil.

I don't wnt to stir things up (or maybe I do). When I was young (long ago) there were only two football teams in the world. Manchester United were the best and Manchester City were the worst. The rest didn't exhist. The first match I ever went to was with my father in 1953 against Blackpool (Stanley Matthews was playing). United won and therefore won the championship that year (Blackpool finished runners-up). My favourite player was Duncan Edwards (I've still got his autograph somewhere). I can still rember crying when he died and I haven't done that many times in my life.
