All in Hua Hin

Post by Amarita »

We went there this summer and are mostly very
happy about the food. The people working there
is very nice and friendly and always greet us
with a good smile.
But the boss there is in a rather bad mood.
Esp. in the morning. He is behaving so bad toward
his employees so they sit crying behind the counter.
This is rather disturbing for us trying to enjoy our
breakfast. But his wife is really trying to calm him down.
And she sometimes manage. It seems he is relaxing
after his first Tiger after 11.15.
Good luck.

I also enjoy the food.
The issue for me is the disregard for the no smoking signs. Not helped by ashtrays placed on the tables by the staff.
And the example of the owner

Although I do smoke that isn't good. There are tables outside can be used by smokers. OK not many - but there's so much fresh food around the serving counters etc that smoking inside really isn't needed.

I had to check to be sure it wasn't April First. The name of the restaurant is "All"? Say what!

No the name is "All In Hua Hin"...
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

No, if you click on the link above you'll see an old thread about AIHH, it got a little bit heated, not to mention amusing.

I wasn't having a go or anything, you just reminded me of that old thread.

You do know the phrase "opened a can of worms"?

Yes I know the phrase. I just wanted to take it a bit further on.
And I didnt remember the old thread. But I remember now.
I also have a great compassion for Thai working for falang and
being bad treated. I really love Thai people whatever mood they
are in. At the end we always laugh together, whatever happens.
I am, hoping not boasting, very often called "a very happy, happy person".
And I am always a guest in this country....

I like your sentiments Amarita but can honestly say that I've never known a farang to treat a Thai employee badly!
The problem is that most Thais - as well as being happy - are so laid back they are almost horizontal, and that can sometimes cause friction between the farang and the staff. It really can be very frustrating for a farang to try to get things done properly, while at the same time not showing his frustration.
At the end of the day if a Thai employee is at all unhappy they will simply walk.
I'm not saying this is the answer to your original post. There may well be other issues. But the dynamics of farang/thais in business could fill volumes.

And you think that's just in Thailand?! It's the same in Hawaii too, and probably in most island/tropical countries. Must have something to do with the laziness. I mean the heat!

Well done Mags, you summed up the situation superbly.

Both Mr.VS and I have know the owners of AIHH for quite a few years - they're a very nice couple running a business in what must now be quite difficult times. They have always treated their staff extremely well, but I know that they sometimes find it difficult to find 'good' staff.

As JK said, they do lovely breakfasts (even I can find something to tempt my tastebuds  ), they also sell the best natural yoghurt in Thailand in their deli section.
