My wife has been raving about a new market that's opened. She's not sure of the name, but it's located off the Pala U road, north side, about C or D 8 on this map
http://www.huahinafterdark.com/hua-hin-area-map.htm
You'll have to go down a small soi to get to it as it's set back a block or so from the main road.
It's supposed to be open every evening, but as it's getting established it might not be functioning sometimes.
My wife likens it to Pae Mai. Sells general food stuffs and clothes, electrical goods as well.
She's only done food shopping there but reckons it's significantly cheaper than the other markets along the canal road - up to half price, if I believe her estimates. It's reckoned that prices will be good for some time, but probably start to increase as popularity grows.
New local week market opens
Re: New local week market opens
A new market opened a couple of weeks ago on Pala U road next to the snooker club, is
this the same market ?
The market next to the snooker club has direct access from Pala U road. It opened a couple of weeks ago and is open on Mondays and Thursdays.

Yes, just checked and that's the place. I got the days it's open wrong.

try droping her weekly housekeeping allowance accordingly, and see what reaction you get.lomuamart wrote:She's only done food shopping there but reckons it's significantly cheaper than the other markets along the canal road - up to half price, if I believe her estimates. BB,
He, he. Her allowance is separate from any household budget and the latter I keep under tight control.

I can also confirm that for foodstuffs it seems to be 50% cheaper than Canal Road.

I'd say it's cheaper than Canal Rd but haven't seen this new one.poosmate wrote:Compared to the new market being discussed ? The Canal Rd market? Or Camden marketThe Market between Soi 114 and 116 is very cheap too
It's packed with locals every night it's open and if you're on the Takiab side of town it's more convenient.
It's mainly food stuffs, Fish, Chicken, Pork, Fruit, all the herbs and veggies etc etc but there's a few clothes stalls and other bits and bobs.
Re: New local week market opens
Ah The Takieb Side of town.
The market is probably cheaper as it sells the left overs from the correct side of town.
If you get up early enough you will catch the local traders collecting the dregs even from there to take to sell in the market to the less fortunate who live in Chaam.

I am generally up and about at 6.30am and I wonder if this would be early enough ?
