yep, he's brazilian & he certainly did come good after a shaky start.

as for ramires, time will tell if he can adapt.
south americans have struggled in the prem, whether it's the pace or the long hard winter, who knows?
veron has the be the best/worst example, went to your lot as probably the best player in the world & flopped, got packed off to chelsovich & flopped again :|

Seems Adebeyor is threatening to leave ManC, first of many disgruntled "superstars" maybe.

HARRY REDKNAPP has been left sweating on the most sensational deal of transfer deadline day.
Tottenham's boss swooped in the final seconds of the transfer window to try to snatch Dutch megastar Rafael van der Vaart from Real Madrid for ฃ8million.
Redknapp claimed Van der Vaart's proposed ฃ18m switch to Bayern Munich collapsed at the last minute, allowing Spurs to jump in and grab the player for less than half price.

He said: "He was going to Bayern and suddenly he became much cheaper.

"They let me know around 4pm that he was available for ฃ8m and, for that money, he is a top player who will definitely improve us.

Good old wheeler dealer 'Arry at it again. Would be a good one if we got it!
If it's within arms reach, there's nothing to worry about!!

RAFAEL VAN DER VAART has joined Spurs — two weeks after claiming it would be a step down to play for any Premier League club except Manchester United.
The Real Madrid midfielder's £8million move was ratified yesterday after technical problems held up the deal before Tuesday's deadline.

But yesterday Van der Vaart, 27, seemed delighted with his switch.

He said: "I want to play again and if possible every week, with a beautiful club. I'm totally happy.

"The fact Tottenham were playing in the Champions League influenced my decision a great deal although I know I have to earn my place in the team because they have a number of sensational players. I'm proud of this transfer."

Boss Harry Redknapp said: "The fee came crashing down because the deadline was so close. He's a great passer of the ball, a top footballer and will be a big plus for us."

Well Done 'Arry. Seems like a hell of a bargain considering he was suppose to be off to Bayern for 18 mil. Let's see how he gets on in the premier league.

Decent enough player but I get the feeling 'Arry has just bought a "good player" rather than addressing any weaknesses.

Van Der Vaart is best deployed in the role Gerrard plays at Liverpool, the free role, In the hole, but he's behind Torres who's a lone striker, possibly the best in the world at that job currently, he is nowhere near as effective when partnered with David Villa, one of the top players in the world, certain systems suit certain players.

Spurs play a 442, none of the Spurs strikers are suited to playing up top on their own and Van Der Vaart would get eaten alive playing in the middle of a two man midfield in the premier League and he isn't a winger. I just don't see where he's going to fit in.

I'm not a fan of Redknapp, I can see his strengths but he's not a top top tier manager, I think he's punching above his weight now.

I'm not slating Spurs by the way, I'd say their squad as a whole is currently better than Liverpools squad, Still aint got a Torres or Gerrard though!

Based on last seasons outcomes, I doubt they're unduly worried about that.

I get the impression that your current manager at least understands the bit about needing a team!
