whats in the water ????

on filling our pool we tested the water before putting in the salt and the test kit showed high ph ????

The PH factor expresses if the water is acidic or basic.
Neutral is 7.
If is is higher, the water is basic, if it is lower then 7 the water is acidic.

After putting the salt, the PH should be around 7.

A pool should be ideally 7.6 ph if high it can be lowered by adding hydrochloric acid. As a guide I use around 3lt to reduce .8 -1.2.( 10x5m pool) Use less first you can always add more.
Also if it is a new saltwater pool I would add chlorine to start ( 1 kg) this will lower the ph.
